Money can’t buy him love

Well, massive infusions of cash for TV ads didn’t help him in CA, NY, NJ, MA, AZ, OH, TX, FL (oops, naughty, naughty, Barry) but that doesn’t mean that he’s not going to try to buy PA.

Hillary can out debate him, out qualify him, out tough him, but so far she has been unable to outspend him. Hey, maybe she doesn’t need to but why take any risks? If you have a few bucks, send it her way and help her keep up with Obama’s planned saturation coverage for the weekend.

I’m snagging this video from Jeralyn (but we’ve used it before ourselves to make the same point so we’re not complete copycats. 😉 )

BTW, I am going to H-burg again tomorrow to help out. If you want to make a difference, the next four days are crucial. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to stick around for Monday and Tuesday because I have a training session at work (really bad timing), but if you have the time, they have plenty for you to do. Consider volunteering. Here’s the contact page for PA. You won’t be sorry.

To our new Obama supporter visitors

Welcome to The Confluence!  We are glad you stopped by.  You have probably dropped in before but for some reason, today was the day you chose to comment.  And, hey, we’re all for free speech and first amendment and all that.  We know you have a choice of blogs to register your opinion.  We would like to encourage you to exercise that choice and express your opinion somewhere else, especially if you insist on insulting us or our friends.

This is not censorship.  Censorship would be a situation where I am deleting your comments and you had nowhere else to post them.  This is not the case.  I am deleting you because you are rude and obnoxious and you have plenty of other places to go to be rude and obnoxious.  You can go to DailyKos, Talkingpointsmemo, HuffingtonPost or any number of other sites where you will feel more at home and we will feel more comfortable. There are places and times to behave badly and The Confluence is not one of those places.  Likewise, the campaign trail in North Carolina was probably not the best place for Obama to make rude and obnoxious gestures (note the plural), especially right before a high-stakes primary.  If you feel he might have gone too far, you might want to have a talk with HIM, not US.

If you go elsewhere, we will not be offended.  Rest assured, we know what your position is (anti-Clinton) and we can predict with relatively good precision what you would like to say.  So, there is no reason to belabor your point here.  But keep it up everywhere else!  The material you are providing is priceless and, indeed, we wouldn’t be here today without all of your efforts.

Oh, by the way, thanks for the confirmation that we have really struck a nerve.  Your comments are hillariously funny.  I can almost read the flop sweat.

Thanks and have a nice day.  🙂

Friday: Clarification of “Dirt off your Shoulder” gesture

Yeah, apparently we just aren’t cool enough. Yep, that’s where Barry is going with the ‘flicking the bird turd off his shoulder’ gesture. See, WE thought it was a cowardly way for him to share a moment with his friends after Hillary beat his ass on substantive issues during a high-stakes debate. A kind of “I showed HER” thing where they all yuck it up about how she’s not worth the dog poop on his shoe. BMOC, popular clique, mean girls, Heathers kinda thing.

But, no, it’s not that at all. This was a reference to a Hip-Hop “song” by Jay-Z called, “Dirt off Your Shoulder”. You might want to read the “lyrics” to get greater insight. (Warning: Please pardon the use of the words “motherf%^&(in'” and nigga. Apparently, it is OK to refer to this song if you are a transitional, post-partisan figure who wants to get beyond race but not gender) I especially like this line:

Tryin to stretch out the coca, like a wrestler, yessir

I’m sure his daughters’ DARE instructors appreciate the meter and rhyme. See, the fact that many of us Clinton supporters find hip-hop to be as listenable as music written in the 12 tone scale, having good moments but bad quarters of an hour, well, that makes us terminally uncool. We’re just cranky blue hairs who listen to Johnny Mathis and the Ray Coniff singers. Obama’s making fun of US, as well as being disrespectful and unpresidential.

Well, I’m glad we cleared that up. I feel better, don’t you?

Update: The Birdman of Obamaland strikes again in another video. (Kudos to jawbone for the new moniker) To *me*, it looks like a different location, different crowd. Same phrases, same gesture. It wasn’t an itch he had to scratch. It’s deliberate and it is what it is. He flips her the bird and thinks he’s being clever, swayve and deboner. Oh, and NPR reporters who fail to mention it, for whatever reason, are collaborating, not cool.

Update 2: This comment from huntingtonpost tells me all I need to know about the Obama attitude towards *us*:

Plain as day to all except the Democratic National Committee who say he was just scratching his nose. I called the Obama campaign to complain: 1-866-675-2008 and they LAUGHED. They all think it is a great big cut up. Perhaps if we all call he’ll have to own up to it before the PA vote on Apr. 22.

They laughed.  Hmmm, maybe they won’t think it’s so funny if their phone lines are jammed.
