“If we have the truth, it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed.”

So much going on today and I’m at work. I can hardly wait to bust out the popcorn later. But let’s not get giddy. We’ve seen what the right wing Wurlitzer can do. They had to control the message to get control in the first place. Still, the arrest and conviction of George Papadopolous, The Trump campaign Foreign Policy advisor, was a surprise. Putin wanted to get rid of the Magnitsky act something special and he only had to find the candidate with the least integrity and loyalty to our country to get it.
I have no idea how far Mueller will go or how many dominos will fall. I suspect that the R’s in Congress are trying damage control right now, especially Bob Corker’s foreign relations committee. I read somewhere that he was having a hearing today.
It’s going to get ugly. Watch for Trump to mobilize his thugs to cause havoc and issue threats against the libtards.
Update: The court has ruled that Trump can’t discriminate against transgendered people in the military.
It just isn’t Donald’s day today.

I need a vacation. Haven’t had a real one in years. Either I haven’t had the money or I haven’t had the time. I’m dying for a road trip out west, maybe ending up on a houseboat on Lake Powell but I’ll take recommendations.

10M!!
Looking at Papadopolous plea and cooperation (love how Mueller dropped it without anyone guessing it), I am reminded of the section in Preet’s podcast with Browder, where Browder says that Putin and his ilk are not very smart and are surrounded by incompetent people. That is true of trump during campaign and now. This guy Pap was ‘reporting’ to Sessions and who thinks Sessions didn’t know his overtures with Russians? Perjury, baby! As Browder said none of these people exude competence (and to that extent we are lucky, I suppose).
It’s like the blind leading the deaf
Love love Jeremy Bash and Mathew Miller!
I hope this is how we get out of this dangerous clusterfuck — smart people getting the country out of this big mistake. Ken Delanian (MSNBC) is saying something they found in an email about Manafort telling Pap, Trump would not meet with Putin during campaign, was exculpatory (stupid statement by Ken) but Jeremy Bash quickly corrected him, that it is not exculpatory at all and that Manafort was making the case for sending a low level go-between (still a collusion). Smart Jeremy!
Or maybe it’s more like bullies don’t have to be smart. Or posession is 9/10ths of the law.
Once they muscle their way into office, control the message and compromise the elections, there’s fuck all we can do to dislodge them. It’s going to take a lot of intestinal fortitude from the Republicans to take them on and the only guy I can think of who has that ability is dying of a brain tumor and is living on borrowed time. Is it fair for us to ask him to take these people on?
Do we have a choice?
I am optimistic. People are going to get these mfers out of there. It is almost too big and diverse to fail.
And you are right, bullies don’t have to be smart because they can do anything and will do anything. Fear, survival, and self-preservation will stop ordinary citizens, big and small, from opposing and resisting and a new normal takes hold. This is where we need a strong and ethical media on the side of the people to cry foul to stop the bullies and the media we have worries me. CNN even today of all days is doing a both sides thing and then we have Fox.
It is almost too big and diverse to fail.
It = America
Speaking of popcorn:
Love the pink bunny slippers! 😛
I think it is extremely telling that the GOP Congress was SILENT today. And Trump apparently missed the meeting he was supposed to have with some of them today. But met with Sessions (who PapaDom reported to during the campaign) and Biden today for lunch. Happy birthday, Ivanka!
Fox is in full totalitarian state mode, the cabinet is in full denial mode, and Trump must be chained up without his phone.
I think they are going down. We must be careful not to be contaminated by the narcissistic administration’s view of reality (we are kings, we are untouchable, no one can harm us). Reality is reality.
