    • Rationality Is A Process, Not A Conclusion (Nuclear Weapons Edition)
A lot of mistakes come from assuming rationality means “thinks the same way I do” rather than “reasons from premises I might not share.” Left than 1/1000 economists predicted the financial collapse, because they reasoned from assumptions like “the market is self-correcting” or “housing prices never go down.” (Sometimes both at the same time, which is rarely […]

Don’t confuse McDougal with Stormy Daniels, the porn actress who accepted money through Cohen’s office to put the lid on her alleged affair with Trump in 2006, around the time that Trump’s third wife, Melania, gave birth to their son, Barron. Daniels is blond. Sure, McDougal describes a similar affair with Trump that overlapped with Daniels’, as well as Melania’s postpartum adjustment to new motherhood and of course Barron’s early infancy. But McDougal is a brunette.

  1. This somehow seems appropriate for this thread. BBC where US journos won’t go…

  2. They are having fun…at our expense.

  3. Saw another tweet from Russian Min. of For. affairs with freeButina as they twitter header.

  4. As the fool tweets about NFL and kneeling… remember this:

  5. LOL…

  6. No one seems sure as to who released this tape. It was considered privileged. Prosecutors could not have released it. It was noted that Trump team waived the privilege. Maddow thought this meant that Trump released it, trying to get ahead of the story, particularly since prosecutors could not comment, so Giuliani gets to set the narrative. Another journalist said that the Cohen team had indicated that the tape was the opposite of what Giuliani said; that Trump is heard saying that they should pay cash, which of course makes it even more nefarious, and, Cohen suggested a check. Another legal analyst said that he didn’t see why Trump would release this, there must be some other thing going on.

I think that virtually all the leaks in these matters are coming from Trump people. Mueller doesn’t leak. Prosecutors don’t leak. I doubt that Lanny Davis leaked this, to what purpose? It does distract from the treason. If this tape is privileged, then probably any other tape of this sort is, too, and it won’t be waived by the Trump team; this must be their most favorable one, such as it is. I have mixed feelings; it is a fun story, but it doesn’t do us much good, unless fraud against McDougal can be shown; and she seems to like Trump, so likely would not testify against him; plus she now has sold her story, her only goal. There was some analyst yesterday going on about how no ethical lawyer would tape his client. It is possible that their strategy is to make Cohen look so bad that whatever he says will be dismissed by the base. Actually, I don’t think that Cohen was ever Trump’s actual lawyer,, and I don’t think that any of these tapes should be privileged. You shouldn’t get to claim privilege through the ruse of having a of fixer who somehow got through a fifth-rate law school,, and calling him your lawyer when it serves your purpose, and saying he is not your lawyer when that is convenient. But the court bought it. And then it got released, and a claim of privilege was waived. Who else could have released this but Trump’s people?

    • At this point I really doubt Trump has any tapes. The tape probably came from the NY Field office of the FBI. Those jokers leak like sieves. Trump seems like he is having an hourly meltdown which is the best sign that things are not going well on the Russia front for him. Even if Maddow is right and Trump released them Giuliani did try to set the narrative that they were “exculpatory” but that went down in flames in short order because too many other people said no, they were not “exculpatory” Some people even believe that Cohen sent the tape out to send to a message to Trump here ya go sucker. This is just one of thousands of tapes I have of you. If you have noticed Cohen has been massively trolling Trump by hiring Lanny Davis, hanging out with Tom Arnold and Al Sharpton.

  7. Princess has to look like she is on a runaway somewhere… BTW Canadian Hudson Bay stopped carrying her brand citing poor sales.

  8. I stole this from someone who also stole this.

Trump supporters 6 months ago:“There were no meetings with any Russians.”

Trump supporters 3 months ago: “They just forgot to report the meetings with Russians.”

Trump supporters last week: “There’s no evidence of collusion with Russia!!”

Trump supporters 3 days ago: “Who cares if the Trump campaign colluded with Russia?”

Trump supporters yesterday: “It’s Obama’s fault for not stopping the meetings with Russians.”

Trump’s lawyer Jay Sekulow today: “It’s the Secret Service’s fault for not stopping the meeting with Russians.”

Trump supporters tomorrow: “Трамп собирается сделать Россию великой снова!”

No, I have no idea what the Russian part means. Propertius probably does.

  9. Prey was ready to be preyed on. China is a substantive competitor but Russia is morally and financially bankrupt, the size of Italy. In truth, Americans and especially the American president should be poo pooing their existence but here we are with a compromised CiC to a state actor who is the world’s foremost Darth Vader because it is easier for them to interfere and bring down other countries/cultures and hold them hostage than to bring their own country and people up to prosperity.

  10. Shout out to Philippe Reines and his doppelganger — day 8. Show up if you are in the DC area.

  11. It’s a tossup which is the bigger problem: our fascists, or our affluent non-fascists (including media owners) who insist on enabling the fascists because they fear that without the fascist votes, the Democrats will take full control of the Congress, then the White House, and raise taxes on our affluent non-fascists.

A sufficient percentage of our affluent non-fascists are willing to betray our country and lick Putin’s taint to escape paying higher taxes, which would still leave them more money than they have any reasonable use for. 😡

  14. These are not Christians. These are stupid illiterate hillbillies, no more rational than the illiterate Muslim adherents rationalizing their beliefs in their religion.

  15. So people are finally recognizing what she said before the election and talking about it now!

    • “instead of taking her words seriously as a former SoS talking about geopolitics”

Ponder on that, MAGA Maggie and the rest of the mutherfuckers.

    • Of course, this NYT is written by that dumb bitch Amy Chozik…

    • Garance is dredging up election coverage of this third debate. Good for her! What sticks out again is Hillary, a highly competent and very smart SOS speaking about geopolitics but the media at large noting none of it and characterizing it as some game show battle of words. That shows how inadequate and incompetent the NYT and other mfers were at their jobs and their vastly lack of seriousness. FUCK the MEDIA!

  16. They are dumb as shit like he is.
