Getting what you want

“On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

H. L. Mencken

Mencken was an optimist.

Watch what they do, not what they say.

Lady V at UpholdTheseRights had an update on the confirmation of Scott Pruitt as head of the EPA. She’s taking names and has a list of actions you can take.

Content is updated daily. Be sure to put her on your daily read list.

Another recommended must listen episode from TrumpCast is A Time for Bromides. This was one of the most meaningful episodes I’ve heard on the topic of what Trumpism is. The essay, Marrakech, by George Orwell is mentioned. It reminded me of the first time I went to the Bahamas in 1981 and saw what real poverty looked like.

What we ignore in others down the social economic ladder is repeated in how the super wealthy view the rest of us who consider ourselves middle class. And now they have successfully managed to turn our anger on each other instead of them. It’s clever and diabolical and they really don’t give a damn about us. We are just extras in their world.

Donald Trump’s real personality disorder is a complete lack of restraint.

He would never pass The Marshmallow Test. The only reason he made it this far is because of his inherited wealth and his unique ability to run over anything that gets in the way of what he wants.

Finishing out Valentine’s week is this Cupid variation from the dream scene of Don Quixote. It’s danced by Evgenia Obraztsova of the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg.

Short, sweet and wicked.

  1. Mencken was prescient?

  2. (NSFW) Can we call Todd to fix our political system? 😛

  3. Meanwhile, down here in the central Arkanshire, we’ve had exactly one day so far (Jan. 6) where we had enough frozen precipitation to close the schools.

[wingnut] But, of course, global warming is just a Chinese hoax to try to fool us into crippling our economy by going off fossil fuels. [/wingnut] 🙄

  4. Yes! all good people forced out of this government by the buffoon should run for office. It does not pay as much as the private sector cushy job but it is public service.

    • The thought that she would come back here and run for governor warms our little pea picking hearts.

  5. Welcome, President Pence?! No, no, no… but do we have a choice?

    • Out of the frying pan, into the fire…

      • Louise Mensch who is a HIllary supporter tweets that Pence should try to bring the country together by offering Hillary the VP position now and then give up the WH for her as president for the latter half leading to 2020. It is radical but still not fair to us or Hillary. She should be given the WH when Trump is ousted. What a clusterfuck! I was talking to my brother in India and he could not believe this past election happened here in this country.

        • From your mouth to the universe’s ears. It is unfortunate that there is no provision in the Constitution (as far as I know and I am not an expert on the it) to remove Trump and Pence if it can be proven that the Russians conspired to steal the election with the Repug campaign and replace them with Hillary.

The best hope is for 2018 to get a Democratic majority in Congress and start the process of getting rid of Trump and Pence. If there is a Democratic majority in the House and both Trump & Pence are impeached, then the Democratic speaker would become president.

The conservatives would cry “foul,” unless they have taken action to remove Trump and Pence before then.

If the next 598 days until Election Day 2018 continue to be this bad, the Repugs may figure out that they need to do something to not lose the House and Senate in 2018.

I am trying to hope that by Election Day 2018 most people will see that Repugs cannot be trusted with the reins of power and we will have 20 years of Democratic administrations as there were from 1933 to 1953 (FDR through Truman).

          • The Fog of Trump and him trying to sell the country to the Russians to make a (billion) buck obscures the fact that there was even more election-stealing by using Crosscheck.

We need to get a handle on that massive disenfranchisement too.

  6. Yo, Papa Flynn & Junior Brat Flynn! Want some ice for DAT BURN? 😆

  7. Also, this.
