WASHINGTON – The White House is proposing a $1.2 billion cut this year to the National Institutes of Health’s budget, targeting research grants. The proposed NIH cut is part of $18 billion in spending reductions that President Trump’s team is proposing to Congress for the current fiscal year, which ends in October, according to a […]

(POST BY MANDOS, just in case you didn’t notice) I have a theory about why Jeremy Corbyn seems so unpopular in the UK, despite the fact that he represents a lot of policy positions that are in themselves popular.  My theory is that, deep down, in the subconscious if not consciously, the British public doesn’t […]

Using the National Guard to round up immigrants is unacceptable.

Here’s the post from today’s Bloomberg News: Trump Weighs Mobilizing the National Guard for Immigration Roundups

(AP) — The Trump administration considered a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants, including millions living nowhere near the Mexico border, according to a draft memo obtained by The Associated Press.

Staffers in the Department of Homeland Security said the proposal had been discussed as recently as last Friday.

The 11-page document calls for the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement as far north as Portland, Oregon, and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana.

No, absolutely not. The Majority of Americans who did not vote for Trump would not stand for it. I think there would be bloodshed.

Some things just require us to draw a line in the sand and say “no further”.

S#%* like this ruins my happy place.

  1. Bad link. Probably because the story was pulled.

  2. Agreed. I would hate to be in the NG right now and be told that I’m supposed to do this kind of thing.

    • Exactly, the National Guard is not to be involved in this types of raids. Tell that to the Dumb, Bannon and all the ignoramus around him…

  3. RD, I think this memo is withdrawn or the way I heard it, lawyers in DHS(?) laughed their heads off at the stupidity of this WH and the 30 year old who wrote that memo. This is why you need a president with law degree or excellent advisors with law degrees, not 30 year white supremacists/nationalists.

    • You know, the Germans didn’t take the nazis seriously at first. It only takes one time for them to push the envelope and get away with it.

      • I hear you but I have faith in the judiciary and the IC of this country. If Trump had played the nice guy all around and got his WH to run smoothly, I would be worried. Not with the stuff going on with him and Russia and the relevant people hot on its trail. He is not smart and he is old and senile or mentally ill. Yesterday’s press conference was a joke and people are laughing at him. 2018 can’t come sooner when we will stick it to the Rs.

      • She has other relevant tweets if you check her TL:

      • Well, we may all get a lesson in civics in trying to understand the incompetence of this WH:

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction, and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 1981.

  4. Louise Mensch — her first piece connecting the dots. Comey met with the intelligence committee and they were all very silent as they came out of that meeting. Things are happening people.

  5. Dumb and his minions are going to keep distorting-distracting and destroying any fact- truth to his(their) convenience.

It’s working very well since half of the ignoramus buys it; the media (the culprits), the rest of us and the world, do not know (yet) how to put together an “intervention” to stop this very well orchestrated madness. to destroy our democracy.

That’s what Dumb is been doing since day one:

    “The election is rigged”…
“Lost the popular vote because voters fraud…
    “He inherited a mess”…
    “Criminal Action against Flynn…

Turning the table 180 degrees to blame the others…
    Never his fault…
    Always in denial…
And always in an emotional outburst…
    In other words: gas-lighting…

I’m starting to think that Dumb is not so unstable and mentally ill.
He’s using this (his) strategy to confuse, threat, create chaos and fear to establish his power.
A typical BULLY; he’s been bullying the system through and through.

He needs to be bullied out.

  6. The new immigration order is coming out early next week. I believe this National Guard stuff is in preparation for that. Makes me shiver to think what that order is going to try to do. WA state says they are ready to file an injunction within one hour of its release.

  7. Awesomeness break:

The “Twang Mix” of the Peter Gunn theme, by the Art of Noise with the legendary Duane Eddy.

IIRC, a reviewer said that the electronic backing vocals sounded like “the Martian Tabernacle Choir”. 😆
