  2. Bah Humbug!
Now back to Secret Santa idea: Original thought:
Heidi Li, on December 21st, 2008 at 12:41 am Said:

Ok, I’m volunteering to organize Secret Santa for the Conflucians. If you send me your snail mail address, which I will only disclose to one other trusted Conflucian and two or three things you like (remember, vary the price range), I will pass along ideas to different people. Obviously, the gifts will arrive after Christmas Day – they will be considered as “on time” if they arrive by New Year’s.

Shall we give it a whirl? If you say aye, drop me an email at heidi59 at gmail dot com. You have indicate that you are a regular here – use your handle plus some other bit of information that will let me know.

For every person who participates, I will put in an extra ten dollars of my own toward 51 Percent’s start up costs (on top of what I’ve budgeted).

    Good suggestion from angiec:

I think that sounds fun Heidi — but I think we should just put a price limit on it not a list of what we want so it is more of a surprise.
    And no gift cards!

So: final rules: No gift cards; nobody should spend more than $20 bucks on the gift they give (since all the online and in store sales hit on the 26th, plenty of time to send your gift by New Year’s and find something with charm for the right price)

  3. mxiq – I *know* you will be loving the Secret Santa idea (smile – or should I frown?)

  4. I’m in! I just sent you an email with my info.

  5. I don’t celebrate Christmas. I suffer from a condition known as C.H.E.A.P.

  6. Obviously, I will be participating as well as coordinating Secret Santa.
Added bonus for you online shoppers: if I hear from you I wlll send you a link to my favorite e-commerce portal – good discounts if you sign up and when you refer somebody you and the other person each get some cash to use (I think 5 bucks – so that defrays the cost of Secret Santa-ing).

  7. myiq — it isn’t the money, it is the thought — and that is for realz.

  8. myiq2xu, on December 21st, 2008 at 1:01 am Said:

I don’t celebrate Christmas either. I suffer from a condition known as “not-Christian”; and also F.R.U.G.A.L.

But if you send me your address, I will make sure you get an anti-xmas something, suitable for sufferers of C.H.E.A.P AND because you’ve been a good sport and been our resident d.j. balancing some people’s like for the holiday and other’s distaste for it, you are counted as already having put in your non-gift.

  9. Heidi — I think you need to re-post this tomorrow (or later today! ha, ha!) during a “higher rush” time.

  10. Will do angiec2. But people may start tuning into this thread in the next few hours too. And I don’t want to harangue people. This should be fun and lighthearted. And if only 3 or 4 people want to do it, that’s fine too. (I’ve already heard from 2 folks!)

  11. Angie:

The thought of spending money (on someone else) makes me physically ill.

  12. Angie, tell myiq2xu that he can buy himself something!

  13. Ok – I’m off the topic of Secret Santa for now. Back to some more work and then I’ll check to see what’s spinning over here.

  14. Heidi — I’m one of the 2 people!

myiq — that is so sad — but I’m not worried because I know it is not true. I bet your grandkids get lots of gifts from you & you are happy ever second of the time you are shopping for them. so there! (if I could stick my tongue out at you I would)

  15. Everybody knows grandkids are special!

  16. myiq — oh, see — your story is already changing! I knew it! 🙂

  17. btw — I love being right — thank you!

  18. Ok gang — I’m off to bed!

Night Heidi — thanks for starting the Secret Santa thing — I think it will be fun.

Myiq — bon soir mon amour!

  19. Heidi – since postage alone down her to Oz would be prohibitive, I’ll help with the match.

  20. Scrubs57, if you will help with the match and will accept an e-certificate then it is easy to include you!

  21. Sounds good, Heidi. Count me in. Do you want to split the match or both of us do $10.00 per person who signs up? I’m cool with either option.

  22. scrubs: You still around?

  23. Yeah, bud. I think it’s just the two of us tonight. I was over checking out some of the gay sites.

One of the advantages of doing your own posts is that you don’t have to allow anyone to hijack the thread.

I never hijacked a thread (and you were never that picky before). I responded to some comments by KenoshaMarge and for whatever reason you got pissed off at me.

I have never done anything to you MYIQ except to tease you a bit which many others have done before and to which, prior to this, you have never taken offense at.

Are you angry because I posted a comment at Corrente in a lambert thread where he was worried about his comments here and I responded for him not to worry because it never got posted?

Whatevah…as long as Riverdaughter has not banned me I’ll feel free to comment on threads here as others do. I won’t comment on anything you post, no matter how much I may enjoy it or your dark humor. Apparently I have p!ssed you off,but I have no idea why.

  25. Oh my. I guess I missed another one.

Worst poster of the week: myiq 1/2 u who then renamed himself as obot3000 (or something like that). I noticed he fooled a few regular posters here until they clued into the name difference. Now THAT is a poster who myiq should be pissed off at.

  26. Did I say something wrong? What’s going on folks?

  27. Never mind, I went and found out what happened like I should have done in the first place. Sorry if I’m off target and don’t want to cause more problems with the not staying on message either.

I remember the kid brother and I sitting in the back seat of our old Buick singing our little lungs out along with Jimmy Boyd. Mom singing in the front seat too. A good memory. Thanks from bringing it back. Both mom and kid brother are gone now and the memory is doubly precious.

  28. Kenosha: MYIQ kinda got pissed at me about some comments about the Kennedys/misogyny/rape/drunkard.

Scrubs. Had a question about an elderly fall. My mom was walking back toward the kitchen holding a remaining bowl of soup and lost her balance and had a fall. I got her up okay and called a friend who is an RN. (I’m pissed at my mom because she wears these slide shoes that are about 2 1/2 times normal size. I got them for her when she was having horrible edema in her legs and feet. She refuses to give them up now!) Anyway, she seems to be okay. We checked her and could find no broken bones or anything. After the fall (and on top of all, she’s had stomach problems, i.e. loose bowels) we checked her as best we could. I had fixed some soup for her for the stomach issues and then when that was down fairly well I gave her a 1/2 Lortab (Vicondin 5 mgs). Later when I was fixing her night time meds I gave her the other half of the Lortab.

My question scrubs is this: The nurse/friend thought Mom would be okay but she’d be sore as hell tomorrow. My question is this: Do you think this necessitates an ER visit? The only reason I ask is because she’s gonna bitch: “I’m okay! I don’t need to go anywhere!!”

Not your problem! He didn’t act up until I threw my 2 cents worth in.

As I said… I haven’t been banned by RD so I’ll comment when I feel like it on non-MYIQ threads. I don’t know why I pissed him off, but apparently I did. It’s easy enough, I won’t reply/post on his threads.

    Nite y’all!!

  30. I cannot believe that health care is this bad in the States.
Italy was one of the last countries to get UHC in the eighties. There were a lot of old fogies wandering around saying it would bankrupt the country, but it hasn’t.
In your case, if this had happened over here, you could have called the emergency doctor (by night), who would have come, visited your mother and advised hospital recovery or not. During the day you could call your family doctor, or substitute.
To get to the hospital you call the ambulance.

All of this totally without charge to yourself or your mother.

Cancer patients of course get free treatment in whatever hospital they choose.

Taxes are higher here-but you get a lot more from them.
Although 4 out of 10 Italians in a poll just out, believe that corruption is flourishing in a) Pol Parties b)the media c) the judicial system d) the health system. (don’t forget the mafia is at home here.)

  31. Fredster “these slide shoes that are about 2 1/2 times normal size”

You’ll have to hide those shoes-she’ll forget about them soon.

  32. KenoshaMarge
they call us old fogies about our music.
Do you think they could keep up with this?

i have not heard it in years

WOMEN,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS,AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

  33. NEVER MIND
    OPERATOR TROUBLE AGAIN.

The song was sixty minute man by the dominos

  34. i don’t know why that would not work.
I typed exactly how it says in the address
It is either me or adam ( a damn aggrivating machine.)
I think it is a case of pride going before a fall.
    Help

WOMEN,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS, AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

  35. Frustrating isn’t it helenk? I just went to youtube and listened to it anyway. And yeah I loved that song.

P.S. I think it’s adam. Now I have a name to put on things when they inexplicably go wrong! Thanks.

  36. Fredster:

If you check you will see that I close the comments on all my threads after a few hours.

I don’t understand your obsession with William Kennedy Smith but I don’t have to indulge it either. Did you have something relevant to add to that thread other than to keep repeating “drunkard rapist” a few more times?

Insulting other commenters is a violation of the comment policy here. You violated that rule by insulting me so your comment was deleted.

You were the one that got angry and went off to pout. Apparently you are still angry.

  37. Lovely song hk and km-sounds like it must have been great to dance to….

  38. don’t understand your obsession with William Kennedy Smith but I don’t have to indulge it either. Did you have something relevant to add to that thread other than to keep repeating “drunkard rapist” a few more times?

Two links on W.K. Smith. Again, I was responding to comments made by Marge on the Kennedys.

You were the one that got angry and went off to pout. Apparently you are still angry.

I only get angry when it’s worth it. This isn’t/wasn’t worth it.

  39. “I only get angry when it’s worth it.”

So why did you insult me and then run off and pout?

KM didn’t mention WK Smith, you did. Then I pointed out that he was acquitted, and you wanted to argue. KM wasn’t part of that discussion. In fact, she wasn’t even aware of it until you brought it up in this post.

(in the same comment where you once again repeated that WK Smith is a drunkard/rapist)

  40. I went back and checked.

KM had not commented on that thread for 6 hours before it was closed.

You brought up WK Smith and posted 4 comments and two links, in a post about Sarah Palin.

Did you have something else to post on either subject?

  41. Fredster:

I’ll leave this thread open so you can respond.
