MAD Ads for McCain

My friend and colleague, jerseygirl5555 emailed me a couple of links on Friday to these faux campaign ads that showed up recently on Mad TV and they’re pretty funny.  Which just goes to show you that even Republicans can have a sense of humor and there is hope for them yet.  Just wait, Jerseygirl, I’m going to have you voting for Hillary in the General Election, see if I don’t.  😉

Here they are.  The politically correct may want to avert their eyes.

  1. Did anyone notice how the AP’s Liz Sidoti mangled Clinton’s comments about Iran? at least this is the version on WRAL.com

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran,” Clinton said April 22 in an interview with ABC. “In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”

Obama said, “It’s not the language we need right now, and I think it’s language reflective of George Bush.”

Suggesting that his rival was a political opportunist, Obama added: “Senator Clinton during the course of the campaign has said we shouldn’t speculate about Iran, we’ve got to be cautious when we’re running for president, she scolded me on a couple of occasions on this issue, yet a few days before an election, she’s willing to use that language.”

Clinton, asked on ABC’s “This Week” about Obama’s criticism, said she had no regrets about her comment.

It makes it sound like she plans on attacking Iran within the next ten years. That is NOT what she said. I saw the interview myself. She said that if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons the US would respond massively, which has pretty much been US policy for decades. Plus why isn’t his new NC ad calling Clinton’s gas tax holiday a “bogus gimmick” considered going negative? I guess that;s the Obama rules, nothing he says can ever be negative…..

  2. Gary,

WTF?! Clinton said she wanted to use deterrence as we did with Russia during the cold war. The point is that if Iran knows that they will be destroyed if they attack Israel with nukes, they won’t use them in the first place. (I realize you know this.)

Do any of these people in the media have any knowledge of history or foreign policy? Honestly!

  3. bboomer,

I think they know exactly what they are doing, misrepresenting what she said deliberately. check out this paragraph from later in that same article,

—Why would I have any regrets? I’m asked a question about what I would do if Iran attacked our ally … and, yes, we would have massive retaliation against Iran,” Clinton said. “I don’t think they will do that, but I sure want to make it abundantly clear to them that they would face a tremendous cost if they did such a thing.”—- (sorry don’t know how to do indented quotes in comments)

notice the ellipsis? I would wager that after ally came “with nuclear weapons”. but they have conveniently left that part out. Any bloodhounds out there know where to find the actual transcript to see what she really said?

  5. and BTW, isn’t comparing Clinton to Bush going negative?? can’t think of anything worse you could say about somebody.

  6. Gary, BO’s entire campaign is a negative frame against Hill. Par for the course.

  7. It’s Candles for Clinton time. Light one. Say a prayer or whatever.

  8. we just lit our “Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe” candle. Patron Saint of Mexico, aswerer of petitions (I’m a Spanish teacher, so I do the petition for help in Spanish, and my partner does it in English)

  9. Did I miss the 400k celebration? See what happens when you are sick?
