Macy’s Turkey Day Parade Surprise Guest!

You’ve been Rickrolled!

  1. Oh, noes! My daughter’s favorite show gets rr-ed!
    Was this for real?
meanwhile, CDS will go on through yet another incompetent administration

We were always at war with the Clintons

  2. I don’t understand. I’m completely out of touch with current pop culture.

  3. This blog is forever educational! I had no idea what “rickrolling” was although I was rolled once (looking for the Michelle tape, I think).

eof, according to Wiki, Astley’s appearance at the Macy’s Parade was real.

  4. bb, you and me both. But Wiki and Google can bring us up to speed in a flash: just Google “Rickrolling and Wiki”

  5. thanks, myiq
    I needed a good rickrolling.

  6. I don’t get it. That is a really great song but it is so interesting how many make fun of it. There is nothing better than 80es music.

    Check us out.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Nein danke.

  8. Downticket, check out Rick Astley on Wikipedia. It explains the phenomenon.
I have to disagree, though. Motown was the best music evah!

  9. NewRepublican

looks the same as the “old Republican” if you ask me.
    All set, thanks.

  10. JeanLouise – It is quite interesting how something like this has become so popular. Reminds me of the Obama “movement”.

I do like some songs from the Motown era but still the 80s are the best.

  11. Hey New Republican, George W. Bush seems to have re-defined “Republican” and it looks real socialist. “Looks” that way because a number of major corporations are now publicly owned or supported by taxes (in the broad sense of that term). So it looks like George W favors bigger government and higher taxes. What a socialist hero! But of course, real people, important people, those raking in over $10 million a year, before bonuses, can’t be allowed to suffer to the point where they might have nightmares of being crushed in a Black Friday sale. Lord knows they’ve suffered enough already – some of them have had to even travel first-class!

So we know what and who Bush, and you, stand for. There’s nothing “New” about it. it’s the same old ordinary ugly greed.

  12. Downticket, I haven’t been online for long. I think “going viral” is a generational/techno thing that I didn’t get nor did Hillary’s campaign people. I remember how the tape of the weird guy begging people to leave Britney alone was everywhere for awhile. Obviously, anyone seeking the youth vote in the future is going to have to have a strong presence on the net.
Hmm, ’80’s, I suppose it was better than disco but the ’50’s and 60’s are classic.

  13. newrepublican,
I checked out your site to view your coverage of Palin, specifically. You had one poorly written, badly sourced, hostile article about her. There were numerous comments which corrected you but on the one topic in the GOP on which I’m sure that I’m well-informed, you scored a 2 out of 10. You’re simply not worth the trouble to read except to correct you when you misrepresent Palin.

  14. JeanLouise, BB and urge – I too am out of the loop on that one.

  15. I don’t know (or care) who Rick Astley is. I thought the blue penis was the surprise guest. I was quite surprised.

  16. I’m so glad the rickroll has gone mainstream.

  17. Didn’t Rick Astley have really red hair? I thought that Christopher Walken was singing disco on a float!

  18. I love Rick Astley. You can “rickroll” me anytime. He’s much more talented and interesting than whatever was supposed to be in the link in the first place. (Usually MEchelle’s ‘whitey tape’).

If you’ve never heard Rick Astley’s version of “When I Fall in Love” you’re in for a treat:
