Sunday- Little Bessy’s Fever’s a-breakin’

What happened yesterday?! Holy Hemiola, I thought we were goners and we were crossing to the other side where all the children were playing in the fields with the lambs. Ahhh, he was going to lead us to that promised land, the angels was a-comin’ for us. “Kiss me mother, kiss your daughter, lay your hands upon my brow, while I’ll soon be with the angels, fate has doomed my future now”

Somehow, overnight, the fever seems to have been broken.

No way.

Way.

Take a look at some of these remarkable developments:

• Ok, I have to admit I haven’t watched SNL in decades but they seem to have recovered their talent for recognizing the absurd. And there hasn’t been anything so absurd as the pornographic nipple massage that the media as performed on the country for Obama’s benefit. Sometimes a fever feels so damn good. Well, I hope they have a video of this somewhere but it looks like the writers had a field day with this. Take home message: “Bitch is the new black!” Amen, sister. In the meantime, HuffPo has some of the juicy details.

• Then there was the sister doing it for herself. Hillary hit the proverbial roof over the new fliers from the Obama campaign that are circulating in Ohio. One misquotes and mischaracterizes her support of NAFTA. The other is a “Harry and Louise” type flyer dissing her health care plan. And the thing I like most about this video is that she nails him on something that is Democratic: Universal Healthcare through Shared Responsibility is a Core Democratic Value. That’s the take home message, folks. We know that Republicans are all about free market forces. We know that Republicans are all about “you are on your own, it’s YOUR responsibility if you get sick”. Now, if that’s what you want, vote for a Republican. But if you’re sick of that $*(#, then you want to vote for a Democrat and Obama ain’t it. Hillary is. See the video.

• Hillary goes to the Black State of the Union and Obama- doesn’t? Hunh? Ohhh, I get it. Those black folks are already in Obama’s pocket. They’re going to vote for him but he doubts that they will vote for her. Yep, put that constituency in the “sucker* column and move on to get some of those tasty libertarians. The more I see of Obama, the more I’m convinced that he’s really just the typical middle aged white guy who is passing for black. So, while it was OK for Barry to aggressively court the AA vote in SC and alienate Hillary from a favorably disposed constituency, it’s *not* Ok to be so publically associated with Black leaders so as to be considered one of them. Is that how it goes? You don’t want to alienate your white middle class libertarian voter in Ohio by sitting next to Jesse Jackson on stage? No? Well that’s what it looks like to me, but then, what do I know. I’m just one of those stupid uneducated women who happens to be your age but older than you. For all of the talk of change, it sure seems like the same old stereotypical race and gender stuff. But I digress. The male Democratic hereditary power brokers will just assume that the Democratic women and AA’s will just suck it up ‘cos where else are we going to go? Well, I’m so glad she went. The next president has to be the president for everyone and she never gave up on them in the first place. Everyone has options, Barry, even the people you thought you had. We could leave you out there in the cold, all alone in the months leading up to the fall elections and let the $250M GOP attack machine take a whack at you. One of the dumbest things Obama has let his campaign do is alienate him from the very people he needs support from in November- Democrats. If he wins the nomination, he’s going to have to work twice as hard. He’ll have to go after the independents and Republicans who are going to abandon him for McCain AND the Democratic base who has been torn apart by his reckless campaign tactics. What brilliant Massachusetts fuckups dreamt this strategy up? And why the hell are we letting them get away with it? Anyway, Hillary showed more courage, strength and grace under pressure. Check for Hillary. Stupid move on Barry’s part. Remember, NOLA is just over the border from Texas and a huge AA population for Obama- Houston. Don’t think they won’t notice.

Now, I wonder if we will suffer a relapse or will we continue to recover? SNL is going to comment on absurdity so if the Clintonistas start producing silly season stuff, expect the ridicule to be dispensed in equal measures. But I think we can say that the worst is probably over. There’s still an infection but the delirium has passed.

One other thing:  If it turns out that Hillary can turn this thing around, the GOP-media complex will never again have the power to control the narrative.  Oh, yeah, they’ll still be a force to be reckoned with but their perception management techniques will have reached their limits.  Pray, pray hard and work even harder to make it happen.
