Let’s point out the obvious. Russia had no reason to attack its own pipelines. If it doesn’t want gas to go thru them it just turns off the tap. Sabotage to the pipelines weakens Russia’s position, since it will be months before they can offer to turn fuel back on, which they would have wanted to offer during the winter in order to pressure Germany in specif […]

If your kid told you something like this…

… you’d have a pretty good idea of their estimation of your parental IQ.

Grounding them would be the first step.

  1. Well, he’s Israeli – which means that he’s used to a Westminster-style parliamentary system and doesn’t understand concepts like “checks and balances” and “coequal branches of government”, so I’m inclined to cut him some slack.

  2. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot???? How did that last comment get stuck in moderation?

    • 1.) you used the i word. It was put on the moderation list to prevent middle eastern entities from carrying on their endless disagreements here.
2.) I think the second comment was said in disbelief at the absurdity of the big orange’s whining.

      • I’ll write it in Hebrew next time 😉 That’ll fix it.

Back in the Usenet days there was this Turkish guy who had a bot that scanned for posts containing the word “turkey” and would automagically reply with a lengthy screed about the “Armenian hoax”. Really flooded the cooking groups in November.

And at this point I assume TFG has a capacity for whining that exceeds the cardinality of complex numbers.

  3. One of the many unsettling things is that they either think that their concocted explanations make sense; or they know they don’t, but think their followers will believe one or more of them. Another of the many unsettling things is that a fairly large group of people either do believe them, or don’t care. That would mean that their view of reality is that it is totally malleable to what you need it to be, you just alter it to fit.

I would not want to revisit this, but it would be quite something if someone showed hours of tape of the Republicans, and perhaps even worse, the media, going on and on about Hillary and the emails, and how incredibly awful it was that she had a private server, and there might have been three documents which were classified, but hard to tell from the markings; but what she did was very bad, and we must spend another news day trying to get her to explain what she explained a hundred times, including to the FBI. On and on. Every day, every hour.

And now this, where either Trump got to take what he wanted, and keep them; or someone planted them on him; or they were all declassified by him anyway; or many of them had attorney-client privilege, either the planted or the declassified ones; and it was chaotic when Trump left, so he didn’t time to look through them, for 18 months, nor separate the privileged ones, or flush them down the toilet; or flush enough of the declassified ones which he would have given back if they asked, but he didn’t. Because he is Trump. Let’s move on to defunding the FBI and jailing them for taking declassified documents which were the property of the White House, because they were privileged, but never separated from all the non-privileged ones which Trump felt like keeping as long as he wanted. They figure that we will either give up in frustration, or they can say, “Americans are tired of hearing about this.’ Which is their goal, of course.

Definitely the latter IMO. If it were the former it would mean that they were successful in not only dumbing down their rubes, but their Leadership (‘so called’) too.
