… that Governor Greg Abbott and other members of his party will be ready to talk about gun violence now after the tragedy that just occurred in Uvalde, TX. I’d like to think that they have enough empathy to realize that it’s time to stop attacking their opponents and “start attacking the problem”, to paraphrase Stacey Abrams.
I’m hopeful.
I can’t offer thoughts and prayers because I prefer action. So I will commit to doing something positive to offset the evil that was released today. We can only imagine the horror and grief parents of Uvalde are experiencing tonight and our hearts go out to them.

The Confluence 
Sadly, I don’t see the GOP anywhere, but especially in any of the real nut job states doing anything about gun violence. There will be some lip service, and of course thoughts and prayers, but the GOP is not going to go back on their insane support of “so-called” 2nd amendment rights.
I think that the two possible actions ranging from Abbott and DeSantis and the rest of them, range from absolutely nothing, to the smallest fig leaf gesture, maybe a few changes in the background checks rules.
What really needs to be done is to ban assault weapons, as was done in the Clinton Administration, but then Bush won, although he didn’t, they just shut down the vote count, and he let it lapse. And the only chance to do that again, is for Democrats to make this and abortion rights the only two issues in every election. Put up a strong bill when the Congress reconvenes, and make everyone vote on it. And those who vote against it must never be allowed to run away from it, or distract in their usual way. if we want to stop at least some of this tragedy and awfulness, we have to drastically change gun laws. Make it a clear choice for voters, and be sure to let them know what is on the ballot in every race.

Oh, and “NRA” now means “Nauseating Russian Auxiliaries”. 🤬
