    • Rationality Is A Process, Not A Conclusion (Nuclear Weapons Edition)
A lot of mistakes come from assuming rationality means “thinks the same way I do” rather than “reasons from premises I might not share.” Left than 1/1000 economists predicted the financial collapse, because they reasoned from assumptions like “the market is self-correcting” or “housing prices never go down.” (Sometimes both at the same time, which is rarely […]

A message to the media

The days of getting the opinions of old guys in diners are over. Also, no more interviews with brassy blonde sTRUMPets at fascist rallies. We are sick to death of the ultra religious conservatives bogarting your microphones for 50 years while women’s voices were muted and made to sound unpleasant or cackling or unlikeable. What did you think was going to happen??

Read the goddamn room for once.

By the way, Ukrainians are still fighting and dying for the rest of us.

The LAST thing we need today is some stupid comment from TFG plastered across our screens. Zip him.

One other thing: We’ve beaten this fascist totalitarian warning to death to the point where it’s become background noise but one thing is for sure. Such regimes always entertain strict gender roles and almost always restrict abortions. You can look it up.

If the media doesn’t start understanding what is actually happening- right now- then they will completely take over and the anchors and journalists may find themselves in an unprecedented anti press environment. If women have no right to freedom of religion, what makes you think they can’t restrict the press?

  1. I was tired of being a woman,
tired of the spoons and the post,
tired of my mouth and my breasts,
tired of the cosmetics and the silks.
There were still men who sat at my table,
circled around the bowl I offered up.
The bowl was filled with purple grapes
and the flies hovered in for the scent
and even my father came with his white bone.
But I was tired of the gender things.

    • Plath or Sexton?
You know where I think it all went wrong? When we allowed anyone in politics or on TV get away with saying, “I’m opposed to abortion”, like we had any practical interest in knowing what they thought about the subject.

      • Sexton! Why oh why have we entertained and tolerated this for the decades?

  2. Why don’t young women in America know their rights & their history? Why weren’t they taught by our educational system? Why are so many misinformed or under informed? Why has the American media and culture for the last 20 Years before MeToo taught us nothing but how to be f*ckable and likeable? Remember those awful 2008 Entourage/James Franco/ bro’s before hoe days? They are so not behind us. Why are we living in an America where womens lib, Virginia Woolf, riotgrrl, hell – the entire 60s – just seemingly never happened? I’m not sure what women are doing but we have become complacent and haven’t yelled enough, we have accepted the unacceptable, we have allowed too many God Bless you’s, too many cosmetics ads, too many promises of a shinier, prettier tomorrow to quiet us into submission. Movements keep getting co opted into male vs female… we keep falling into media narratives, everyone is playing defense and no one is playing offense. Where is our Sojourner Truth?
