    • Tornado night
I spent a half-hour tonight sitting in the hallway, waiting out a tornado warning. It never hit here (I don’t think we got more than a sprinkle of rain) but it did hit the Hellmouth, where I used to live north of here. It hit the local mall, and took down a nearby car dealership … Continue reading Tornado night

Canceling out KCals burned

Walking this morning. It is really nice in Pittsburgh today. Sunny, clear, about 70°F.

I went for a walk around the ellipse in Oakmont:

I’m waiting in line. For my sugar free skim latte. Yeah, that’s the ticket. 🙄

As you can see, Pittsburghers are mask breathers.

The entrance is metered. The inside is big enuf for people to stand 6 ft apart but if you haven’t had a shot yet and you’re worried about crowds with sugar addiction, you can order ahead and pick up in the parking lot outside, around the corner. Just follow the line.

I do have a mental list. I’m on a mission for onion bagels. (Excellent) But the length of the list is directly proportional to the amount of time I spend in this place.

I should probably leave.

Just kidding.

Oakmont Bakery.

I’m not supposed to lift anything heavier than 5 lbs. I might be slightly over that.

  1. I got a dozen bagels, a loaf of crusty sourdough, and 2 pastries (they’re not for me).
    Also that vanilla skim latte.
And now they’re filling my car with the smell of dough and sugar and fat.
    This is a test.

  2. There looked like a tart or turnover with fresh strawberries in there. I would buy four of those, but only to eat one at a time!

    • Yeah, they have strawberry tarts. They had a little pastry called a chick magnet. It was a little yellow chick on a small cake. Looked like it might have had lemon curd in it. That and key lime pie are my kryptonite.

  3. Unfortunately I only get sound no picture. I am sure it was beautiful though and you had a wonderful day!
