I’m creeping back into the land of the living slowly and what am I hearing? Kevin McCarthy made a phone call to Trump just as the insurrectionists were breaking into his office. Trump is alleged to have said something like, “I guess they care more about the election than you do.”
If he really said this, he should be convicted. Also anything he said with respect to Mike Pence. I mean, we don’t even LIKE Mike Pence but no one we know wants to see him executed in front of his family.
Trump’s impeachment lawyers are trying to devolve this trial into a partisan hate trial. But I think I’m beginning to see how the founders intended impeachments to work. The evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors and the sentiment against the behavior has to be so egregious that party doesn’t matter. Partisanship becomes irrelevant. It’s just us Americans holding another American accountable.
The outcome shouldn’t even be in doubt. Trump’s actions are in a different category and orders of magnitude different than Bill Clinton’s lying about a blowjob. Now that was partisan.
This is not partisan and if we only arrest and punish Trump’s devotees and never hold Trump himself accountable, it’s going to happen again. Some Trumpers are so dedicated they’re willing to throw away their freedom for him.
So, bring on the witnesses. Some of them have already been telling their story to constituents. Now do it for the television audience at home.

The monied classes of the North did not want to pay the full monetary price it would have taken to Reconstruct the South fully, so they let the Cavaliers and Borderers up too easily–plus they wanted the Cavaliers as allies, against the increasingly uppity working people of all skin tones.
Our country, and to a lesser extent, the whole planet, now pays the price of their stinginess.
ARGGHHH… edit, or preview would be nice
So, sorry. I’ll see what I can do in WordPress
RD, very nice to see you back, and I am very glad that you are feeling better!
Ah, I see that we are indeed going to have witnesses. Very good. I just turned on the TV, and I see that Democrats are being asked “what are the risks of this?” We will see some of that; the media gets tired of the same story, and wants to go on to other things. I don’t know what President Biden thinks of this, it will give Republicans the opportunity to stall every bill and confirmation. But Democrats should not be intimidated, this is far too important to just let it go.
Hey, William, did you see what happened today? I missed it. I’ll leave the rest of the day to you if you don’t mind.
I don’t mind at all! It is a pleasure! I’m not sure what you are referring to, as to something that happened, beyond the witness situation. I will find out!
Glad to see you back too, RD… Hope things worked out well
It worked but recovery is going to be slow. I like to bounce around my house and run up and down stairs and that’s not going to happen for at least another week.
C’est la vie.
So now we hear that maybe they are just going to enter the testimony of Jaimie Herrera Butler into the trial record, and then vote on the impeachment. What could would that do? It would be admitted into the record, bu the trial would be over, and Trump would be acquitted. Virtually no one in the public would understand this, or want to hear any more about what she said.
It is so typical of Republicans that their response to possible witnesses is to threaten to call hundreds of witnesses. They are spoiled jerks who will stamp their feet, threaten, raise their fists. They should be called on it.
