Gotta love him

Our lieutenant governor at work:

Ouch.

  1. The Browns are 8-3! I guess that some of the old Steelers-Browns rivalry is showing up.in the remark. The Steelers are 10-0, of course.

  2. On another subject, I am reading about how the Republican Senate might try to block all of Biden’s judicial nominees. I read that Senator Cornyn says that there is zero chance that the Senate would approve Neera Tanden for Budget Director. She is bright and respected; she is a partisan Democrat, but Republicans always appoint partisan Republicans, some far more radical than Tanden ever was. How many cabinet or cabinet-level appointees of a Republican president did a Democratic Senate ever block? I can only think of John Tower, for Secretary of Defense, and it was because of a verified drinking problem.

But Republicans stand for the proposition that the Democrats must always approve their nominees, because “elections have consequences,” whereas Democrats do not get to appoint anyone whom Republicans don’t like, because “that’s how the process works.” When will voters understand that electing Republicans to the Senate simply makes it impossible for Democrats to govern? Unless that is what they want; Republicans get to make all the appointments, while Democrats have to beg to get any. I say again, any lever of power which the Republicans have, even if they do not hold the presidency or one of the houses of Congress, they will use to essentially try to shut down the government, just the way that Gingrich did in the Clinton presidency. This must stop, one way or the other. Either do what Trump did, and make the appointments temporary; or make sure that any pork barrel bill which any Republican senator wants, is not passed or signed, until they stop this gleeful obstruction of the government.

  3. RE: Lt. Gov. Fetterman’s comment: 😈

  4. Well, I’m going to be busy with the doctors in December. Regular dental checkup on the 3rd, regular physical exam on the 8th, regular eye exam on the 9th.

Unfortunately, I may have something interesting to tell my family practice doctor on the 8th. Throughout much of November, I’ve been having odd pains in my chest and arms. I HOPE it’s just gas or reflux, and not my coronary arteries or something else really scary like that.

The good news is my blood pressure is NOT shooting up, so the Losartan seems to be working.

  5. Del Shannon wrote this song, and gave it to Peter & Gordon to record. Their version of it failed to chart in their native UK, but went Top Ten in the USA, in early 1965.

  6. Why did posting a Peter & Gordon song twist Spammy’s knickers? 😕
