73,000,000 of them

Take a look at this. Make sure you read the letter from Professor Brennan.

To the 78 million of us who voted for Biden, this looks unhinged.

This guy seems to have bought into the whole conspiracy compendium. Back in the day, nobody believed those “I had an alien baby” stories in the tabloids at the checkout line. Now they do.

  1. The print is very small! But one can sadly acknowledge that a combination of lack of education, and relentless brainwashing by far right media has caused this. Maybe a lot of it was already present, and we just never had a window into it in the days when there was only the nightly news and the newspaper.

I am not a trained psychologist, though i certainly took enough courses in social psychology to have some overview. I would speculate that it relates to people being overwhelmed by their insignificance, by a world which frightens them, so that they seek some “grounding” in a kind of cult which tells them that everything they do is very important, that they are heroes in this cosmic struggle of good vs. evil. Superhero movies are very popular; I am not a big fan, but I appreciate that they offer stories of good vs. evil, with a hero, even if somewhat flawed, fighting for the good. People are drawn to that kind of cosmic story. Now these insane cult theories offer gullible people who feel overwhelmed, angry, powerless, an identity of being warriors in a battle against those people they hate, which include Blacks, Jewish people, intellectuals, liberals. The fantasy puts all of those in a sinister group who are seeking to take away something, and must be stopped. It is a perversion of religion, which has certainly itself been responsible for much hatred of “the other, the nonbelievers, the infidels.’

Necessary to this is a belief that any fact which runs counter to the cult, must be a lie, fake, deceit by the enemies. Everybody who joins the Q insanity, gets to feel that they are privy to texts which offer the answers. They are soldiers in a weird fantasy which offers them purpose and explanation. It would be fascinating, if it weren’t so dangerous. I don’t know how you deprogram tens of millions of people who are being programmed every minute that they watch Fox channels, or OANN, or all the other mind drugs being offered to them, mostly by those who just employ it as a grift to line their pockets, much as various TV preachers have done for decade

    • Hey William, click on the whole tweet and you should be able to open the letter directly to embiggen it.

      • Okay; i tried clicking on whatever this person wrote, and I just got to a facebook or twitter page of the school, but I will try again, as unsettling as it must be to read these ravings of someone who supposedly studied science, and had a teaching position.

  2. He doesn’t even know how to use punctuation!
