Meet the New Team

Saved the best for last:

Also, no commie socialists. Go figure.

One Response

  1. I am impressed by the choices so far. Let’s hope that McConnell, drunk with power, does not try to stop their confirmation. There are very few sane Republicans left in the Senate, if it came to votes.

More likely, he believes that with the Senate in Republican hands, with his power to stop any bill from coming to the floor, with the Supreme Court controlled by the Far Right of the judiciary, this will be just another interregnum, like the last six years of the Obama presidency, where nothing got done, no Democratic bills were passed, there was just a gifted orator making speeches which had no real legislative effect. They’ll focus on winning the House in 2022, only five or six seats away now, which would completely neuter the government, as precursor to their opportunity to put another fascist in charge; Pompeo. Haley, another Trump. Republicans don’t want to “work together,” they want all the power; and they will do nothing to help Biden or the Democrats look good.

This is how they see it. Is there a chance for another, better scenario to occur? Only if Democrats continue to vote in large numbers, because in this era, being committed is a full-time thing, because the zealots on the other side spend most of their waking hours trying to figure out a way to game the system some more, and gain perpetual power over our very flawed electoral mechanisms. In my opinion, the Far Left, AOC and her group, must be marginalized, since I think that the ability to paint Democrats as socialists, as unfair as it may be, was the major reason, besides regression to the mean, that the Republicans gained eight or nine Congressional seats, despite the very large Biden win. So as glad as I am about the new administration, and the adults of high reputation being put in charge, we have all seen how transitory this can be. Is the arc moving toward democracy, or relentlessly toward fascism? I cannot spend hours worrying about all of this, but people must stay aware and involved to at least some meaningful extent. Actually, in the Clinton era, with all world matters being handled with expertise, and a booming economy, I didn’t have to worry about too much of it. But that seems like a halcyon time now.
