Words of caution

This sounds about right. It could be a very dangerous two months.

  1. I hope this false prophet Paula White becomes the laughingstock of the planet. 😆

    • Oh, does her “strike the ground” gesture remind anyone else of the jerk-off motion? 😈

    • Oh my, Ms. (Rev.?) White is going to wake up unhappy. Love the white kitty!! I think the kitty is closer to God than she.

    • I sincerely hope that when they are talking about white women supporting Trump to a greater degree than last time, they are talking only about women who are followers of Paula White.

  2. You said- don’t antagonize them but don’t let them give you any shit. I’m not sure how that plays out but just having caution doesn’t feel like enough. Can you explain more?
I realize we have 2 months to survive ahead. When Biden takes office, I’m hoping Covid control takes precedence. I think maybe treat it like a military campaign. No begging or pleading, just expectation citizens will be big part of the effort. Is this delusional?

    • It’s very tricky. What I mean to say is don’t deliberately start any arguments. Don’t taunt them. I know from experience that some of these Republicans are amazing, loving good people who aren’t racists and truly love their families. It’s just that they can’t project that goodness beyond their families. And we need to not put up barriers to them doing that. Their guy lost and as much as narcissists see everyone around them as extensions of themselves, Trumpers have weirdly embraced that and feel like anything that hurts Trump hurts them as well.
So, they feel may feel humiliated and angry. Why give them reasons to cling to their leader on his way down and then find someone new to replace him? Trump needs to face his defeat but his followers need to have some reason to let go of him.
So, don’t hurl insults. Don’t antagonize. Don’t create a rift.
At the same time, hold on tight to the values you live by. Don’t give them up in order to make peace and keep the noise down. You need to stand up for what you believe. They’re going to hurl insults anf put you on the defensive. Don’t take that bait and explain yourself. They don’t give a shit how rational you are and they’ve been listening to Limbaugh for years and have learned how to dominate and bully in conversations. They’re expecting you to buckle under all that vitriol and back away from the absurd characterizations of what they think a Democrat is or a liberal is. If you give up and back away from your values, that will only reinforce whatever their leaders have been telling them. You’re weak, you’re a sheep, you want to give away all their money. Etc, etc.
anyway, that’s what I’ve found. And trust me, it is absolutely not easy to walk into that headwind. But some people are worth the effort.

      • Thanks, I will bookmark and mull over your suggestions. There are so many on the other side, dealing with them will be difficult.

        • I know. They’re not all worth your time. But every once in awhile you’ll catch one who has put a lot of stuff on their shelves and it’s getting heavy.
We shouldn’t make it our goal to make Democrats out of everyone. We just want them to put down their arms.

      • They don’t give a shit how rational you are and they’ve been listening to Limbaugh for years and have learned how to dominate and bully in conversations.

Exactly… sad thing is they (Elected/Selected GOP) all do this now, since it has been proven to work… how else could Trump’s presidency be explained, it was/is irrational.

  3. A point well taken. It ain’t over till the fat man takes his hands off the nuclear codes.

  4. I appreciate the word of caution from Ms. Ben-Ghiat. The militant branch of MAGA is dangerous.

We don’t even have the keys to Isengard yet. Remember the power of the voice of Saruman. President Trump takes a different approach, but his voice has power and he has millions who hang on his every word.

I will be happier when Jan. 21 comes around, with Joe and Kamala in the White House!

    • Keys to Isengard. 😂🤣😅 yet another tolkienista. I’m all verklempt. How much you wanna bet Biden is one of us?
Can’t wait until he throws Saruman and Wormtongue (Miller) out of the Shire.

      • I was considering Jared Kushner as being Wormtongue, but I agree that either Stephen Miller or Jason Miller (whichever you were referring to) could readily fit the role.

So few roles, so many slimy-tongue lizard-Republicans to choose from! (Not to malign actual lizards…)
