Idle speculation on why they don’t call it.

I’ll go first.

Donald can’t take it and his advisors think he’ll do something rash and impulsive (Trump do something rash and impulsive?? You must be kidding)

So they’re running out the clock to get preparations in place. Maybe this has to do with deep state actors battening stuff down and protecting national security, getting the national guard in place in case there are “non-peaceful riots”, as my 27 yr old coworker calls them (millennials are adorable).

When everybody is as ready as they can be and most Americans assured that as many votes were counted to be sure of a Biden win, then they’ll call it.

That’s my guess. Nothing else makes any damn sense.

Any other crackpot conspiracy theories or informed rational decisions? Put it in the comments.

Rep. Jim Hines (D-Conn) says the blue wave failed to materialize in part because many hardcore Trump voters have made it their mission to hate Democrats.

Yes, this has a LOT to do with it. They HATE us. We’re like strict parents who are keeping them from partying all night and indulging in risk taking behavior. Also, we want a certain amount of altruism and mutual care for each other and the rest of the world. That doesn’t mesh well with selfishness and everybody for themselves.

A lot of them are going to have to experience personal shocks in the wake of Trump’s destruction before they grow the fuck up.

  1. I’ve had similar thoughts, about the calling of certain states and now about the presidency. I think your insights are on the money!

  2. Not called because the major media is as cowed by 40+ years of Republicans screaming that the media is biased towards the liberals.

They are at least as confused (IMO more confused) than the ~43% of public that thinks the Republicans are doing something for them.

Also WTF is up with White women going 2-3% more for Trump this time, than last time. Trump is definitely ‘grabbing them’ by their brains some how; and they are letting him, I guess because he is a celebrity.

Please note this is not all White women, and those that did not vote for Trump are not responsible for their counterparts… same as the men who did not vote for Trump.

    • I’m not sure that’s completely true, jmac. All the talking heads I’m listening to are as flummoxed as the rest of us. I think the hold up is happening at the state level as evidenced by Fetterman and Shapiro continuing to tell us to remain patient and calm.
They know things that we don’t know. Maybe the FBI is keeping track of things. Trump still claims he won, which is impossible unless he plans to take over.
It’s not good. Not good at all. I wasn’t kidding about my bug out bag.

The talking heads might be flummoxed, but the owners of Major Media are NOT. They call the shots and IMO 90% of the talking heads roll over for their bosses

        • I have this fantasy that PA held off on announcing until they were able to reach that 40000 vote milestone. It’s the same number that we “lost” by in PA in 2016. Yeah, it says Biden leads by 35000 but I’m pretty sure it will finish closer to 40k.
I will never believe that Hillary lost this State. We didn’t have paper trails back then. We didn’t have mail in ballots and it would have been much easier to manipulate the votes without them.
Hopefully, we’re going to find out for sure what really happened in 2016.

True story, SO is working in the garden yesterday. We had a Biden flag and a Biden/Harris sign up until the day after election day, when the Biden sign was removed, and the flag replaced with an American flag. A woman from the neighborhood (not known to us, but car is familiar) stops at the stop sign in front of our house and calls out to get her attention, when SO looks up this (late 30’s early 40’s) woman says… I just want to show you my shirt… and opens her jacket to reveal a Trump shirt. SO, not being as crude as I am simply shrugs and says SO WHAT. Woman drives away. UNFuckingbelievable to me how juvenile the Trump supporter is. This person obviously knew we were Biden supporters and for reasons unknown (since PA was already giving Biden the lead at the time) felt she had to do this. Why? Beats the shit out of me.

    • Yeah, they know who were are anf what was on our lawns. Is your bug out bag ready?

      • No bugout bag, but now I keep a loaded magazine in the safe with the gun. I wanted to put one of those ‘Not a Gun Free Zone’ signs next to my Biden/Harris, but didn’t.

  4. i think that jmac has it right, the media is simply afraid of Republicans. It would at least partially account for them spinning every story in the way kindest to them, and all this ludicrous both-sides nonsense. They called other states, and then they stopped making calls. I think it is the head of the election desk at NBC who said something about this year having had so many curveballs, that they wanted to take more time. Curveballs in voting results? They have lost the ability to analyze trends and make calls? No, they do not want Trump and his cult to attack them, verbally or physically. No one wants to go first. And what they are doing, is giving the Trump people more room to yell fraud, and question the accuracy of the count.

And Jim Hines is right, there are millions of people who simply hate Democrats, as if they are the enemy in their so-called religious conceptions. Democrats can never be voted for. They are to be shunned, destroyed. That is why the reactions to this four years of awful acts of Trump, all the things we learned, did not move his base. His statement about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue was the most accurate thing he ever said. They would not care. Somehow their mental makeup has devolved to this, they gain most of their pleasure from trying to make liberals unhappy. It is like someone having all sorts of issues in life, but they go out to see Alabama beat Georgia, and they scream and chant, and it blocks it out.

Tribalism, fanaticism, whatever one wants to call it. Hating Democrats gives them an identity and common goal. This is mostly the result of forty years of incessant talk radio and Fox brainwashing them. I know of people who leave it on all day, it is some kind of drug for them, their bubble of certainty about things. The people who run these networks are out for wealth, but they are also insidious shapers of the minds of their listeners, who now are taught to believe that wearing a mask is some kind of liberal encroachment on their existence. I remember the scene in “Quadrophenia” where the Mods and Rockers were marching toward each other, chanting, and eventually fighting. I barely remember what the Mods and Rockers stood for: the kind of music they liked; the way they dressed? But for so many of those teenagers, it was their identity, and the other was their enemy that they had to fight, and this gave their lives purpose.

  5. Thank you, Pennsylvania!

  6. Just called.
