Be happy and be well. Please be careful about Covid. Viral load matters for infection, spending hours in a house with people is a great way to get infected. Feel free to use comments to discuss topics unrelated to recent posts. I’m doing my annual fundraiser. If you like my writing and can afford to, […]

Last “Debate”: Anything could happen.

I’m not predicting anything.

Have at it.

  1. Kristen Welker looking calm and cool.

  2. Hope she had some inderal.

  3. Maybe Trump got the inderal.

  4. I almost forgot: Happy Out Of Touch Thursday! (It’s still Thursday here in the Central Zone.)

This clip has the full regular version of the song.

(Oh, I spared myself from watching the debate.)

  5. Trump’s comments about the kids in cages were spectacularly sick. That being said, I don’t think this debate is going to have gotten him any new votes at all.

  6. It is so predictable and always infuriating that the media acts like this is an exciting football game where the trailing team could still pull it out with some big plays. Trump has been in office for four years. I have a very good memory, and i still can’t recall all of the horrific crimes, and inhuman actions his regime has committed. But if he were to say something really clever, or sound calmer, this would be a “game changer”? Is that the media’s contribution to our political discourse? I have to be nervous every time there is a debate, in case the bad guy says something so incredibly brilliant as “There you go again,” or the good guy sighs in exasperation and it is talked about nonstop for weeks? This is a deadly serious matter, literally, and the media only has the capacity or inclination to talk about their beloved optics. Hillary seemed overprepared, said the moderator of MTP. We certainly can’t have that. We need a soupcon of lightness, humor, rapier like reactions, sort of like Cyrano de Bergerac, but with a nose job, because after all, people, this is TV, where we are always looking for the pivot, if it can help the Republican candidate.

    • Never forget: The Russopublican Treason Party’s consistent policy of absurdly low taxes on the affluent-and-richer people serves as a perpetual bribe to those people to support the RTP, and not only at the ballot box.

The owners of the media–“mainstream” as well as wingnutty–are rich, and their higher-ranking employees are also rich, or at least affluent.

      Need I say more?

Also, of course, the past decade or so has included a series of disturbing revelations about the wide and deep reach of male supremacism and white supremacism in the USA, OUTSIDE of self-identified Republicans or “independent” conservatives. We’ve learned how many of our “friends” are Fake Friends.

      Take it away, Joan…

  7. Off topic:

    Weekly reminder:

Friday nights 8 PM – 9 PM North American Central Time:

The Magical Mystery Tour. Host Tom Wood takes a look at the Beatles from a different angle each week.

Friday nights 9 PM – 12 AM North American Central Time:

Beaker Street, the legendary rock radio program, has returned. Iconic host Clyde Clifford has returned from his medical absence.

Both shows can be found at http://arkansasrocks.com/

If you can’t catch Beaker Street live, MP3 files are available soon afterward at https://beakerstreetsetlists.com/

  8. The bar is set so low with President Trump, that if he does not appear on stage foaming at the mouth, he is considered presidential.

In his debate performance, there were so many, many lies and so little competence or compassion.

The people who were “swayed” by his performance were already going to vote for him anyway. They have bought into his lies and do not want to know that they were scammed.
