Last “Debate”: Anything could happen.

I’m not predicting anything.

Have at it.

If anyone is being unfair, it’s Trump

Trump is constantly whining about how unfair everyone is to him when they question him, expose his lies or try to hold him accountable.

By the way, who was it that lately sent me a “If Trump was Churchill during the Blitz (in the style of Covid)”? So true.

Anyway, if anyone is being unfair these days, it’s Trump. After all, he’s threatening Americans with pre-existing conditions, seniors who are retired or about to retire by threatening to permanently suspend the payroll tax, and taking every state that wants a free and fair election to court. He says he won’t agree to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses. He’s installing a hard right wing zealot on the Supreme Court, making it difficult if not impossible for working people to get justice again for a generation. Some of us will be dead by the time Amy Coney Barrett dies on the job. It’s going to be THAT LONG.

And then there’s Covid and the unfairness of watching Trump scoff at science and discredit the scientists everyday while millions of us get sick, get thrown out of our jobs or die.

I’m sick of hearing about how unfair life is for this ignorant, bully of a “president”. Why should any of us care about what is unfair to him? He’s gotten away with bad business deals, bad social behavior and irresponsibility his whole life.

These whole four years, and the 20 years that preceded them, have been grossly unfair to the rest of us.

Someone needs to call him on it and tell him once and for all that life is not fair, Donald. He’s had it much better than most people. But if he really finds the expectations we have of him to be unfair, there’s the door. Don’t let it hit you on the way out.

We really don’t give a damn.

Jeezus, Republicans really are the daintiest snowflakes.

Eric Trump ruined my bakery. @Oakmontbakery

I love the Oakmont Bakery. On the weekends, the place is so packed. They have two parking lots: one in front of the building and one about a block away. It’s almost not enough.

They make the most amazing raspberry tortes. It is a cake to die for. The bagels are actual bagels. And during Easter season, they have a multitude of Pączki. When I go there, I’m almost overwhelmed by the variety of pastries, breads, cookies, donuts, it’s almost too much. I’m very lucky that it’s just a short 5 minute ride to the bakery from my house. I’m also unlucky that it’s a short 5 minute ride to my house because the siren song of extra calories is seductive.

During the pandemic, oakmont bakery hasn’t suffered from lack of customers. They figured it out. You can order online and pick up. You can’t sit inside and eat your pastry by the fire but you can still go to the counter and order. The number of customers is metered. There’s a bakery employee making sure they follow state guidelines and everyone wears a mask. You can even buy an Oakmont Bakery mask. I have one.

It’s no surprise that politicians go to the bakery during campaigns. It’s a happening place. They even have a cookie poll going on right now. You can buy a Trump cookie or a Biden cookie. I’m not sure they limit it to one person, one vote.

So imagine my disappointment when I saw this picture of Eric Trump and his entourage in the Oakmont Bakery today.

That’s right, Eric took off his mask as did many of his Trump nuggets. *INSIDE* the bakery. The bakery that we loyal customers have taken great pains to not breathe virus all over the pies. The bakery is big and the ceilings are high but coronavirus can be aerosolized. So Eric and his maskholes have potentially infected some of the employees. And those employees can in turn infect customers.

Oh, sure, we wear masks but no one should be allowed to flout the rules, act like they don’t apply to them, and encourage others to do the same. It’s the height of irresponsibility.

I’m just really surprised that the normally vigilant Oakmont Bakery didn’t defend the rights of its employees and local residents and tell Eric to put the effing mask on or leave the store. It’s what they would have said to any of us. Then they would have called the friendly neighborhood cops in the parking lot to have a discussion with us.

This is as bad a look as you can possibly get. I can’t stand anyone associated with the Trump crime family to begin with. Now they’ve ruined my bakery and some Trumpish maskhole in the future is going to assume that if Eric could do it, so can they.

This is how spikes start.

So, so, disappointed. I was looking forward to a dessert for tomorrow night. But I’m not stepping foot in that place for the next two weeks.

Divine? Coincidence?

If you don’t think Covid is a problem, why so anxious for a vaccine?

HHS Secretary Alex Azar is on the verge of getting rid of Stephen Hahn, head of the FDA:

Infuriated by the FDA’s defiance in a showdown over the Trump administration’s standards for authorizing a coronavirus vaccine, health secretary Alex Azar has spent recent weeks openly plotting the ouster of FDA chief Stephen Hahn.

Azar has vented to allies within the Health and Human Services Department about his unhappiness with the top official in charge of the vaccine process, and discussed the prospect of seeking White House permission to remove him, a half-dozen current and former administration officials said.

And why is Azar so mad?

The discussions come amid deep frustration with Hahn over his insistence that a Covid-19 vaccine meet stricter-than-normal safety standards — a contentious decision that rendered it impossible for President Donald Trump to fulfill his oft-expressed desire for a vaccine just before Election Day.

Earlier this month, Hahn ended a lengthy standoff over the rules under which the FDA would grant emergency authorization for a vaccine by flouting the White House and ordering their publication. The move won widespread praise from the nation’s public health community.

Hahn defied the White House about the standards for approving the vaccine(s) for coronavirus. I didn’t have high hopes for Hahn and the FDA but in this case, he’s absolutely correct. Coronavirus is not very well known. There is a lot more about it that we need to understand including how long an immune response lasts. Not only that but there are several new technologies for creating this vaccine. They’re cutting edge and they’re being developed very rapidly. Mistakes will be made. Yes, speed is vitally important. So is safety. We don’t want to cure people of coronavirus only to turn them into the Walking Dead.

I’m exaggerating of course. But death is a possibility with a new vaccine using new technology to a new virus. That’s a propagation of error that we need to avoid. So I have to agree with Hahn. Every effort needs to be made to resist lowering the bar for a vaccine.

The virus has no idea this is an election year and does not GAF that Trump is an incompetent president who wants to use a vaccine to get himself re-elected.

But here’s the part where cognitive dissonance gets in the way. We have a president and his myriad of mindless maskholes minions claiming (without ANY evidence at all) that Covid is no big deal. If you get it, you’ll feel little more than the common cold. Then you’ll be better and can get back to work. There is a definite subtext here that if you don’t get back to work that you’re a slacker that is trying to undermine the president with your insistence that you’re sick. What you really are is trying to get extra days off at the taxpayers expense. You’re contributing to the ruination of Trump’s beautiful economy. What a world! What a world!

And yet, it is that very same myriad of mindless maskholes who think the deep state is depriving them of a vaccine. Yeah, wrap your head around that one. Why are they so concerned with a vaccine if Covid is no big deal?

See what a neat trick that is?

Trump’s got his ass covered either way. The virus isn’t going to kill you so get back to work you losers.

But if you don’t want to get sick, there’s a vaccine that’s ready right now that the FDA is sitting on.

Which is it?

Can you get sick enough to need a vaccine? If that’s true, then it’s probably also true that if you do get sick you’re going to get more than a cold.

This is not rocket surgery calculation. He’s pretty much right out there deceiving his maskholes that they don’t need to take any particular precautions. So they’re not. And the infection rate is increasing everywhere. At the same time, he can’t deliver on a vaccine that he knows is going to be more necessary because his FDA head is being as careful as the science demands.

AND with every new human incubator, Trump is creating mutations that may make the vaccine less effective or the virus more lethal.

Russia and China couldn’t have done a better job of screwing Americans than Trump and his minions are doing to themselves.

If I were an intrepid journalist/moderator at a presidential debate, I’d ask Trump why he’s so anxious for a vaccine if there’s no danger. And if a vaccine is necessary, then why can’t we do it right? Can’t it wait? Is it possible that it’s not all about Trump?

And now for a feel good story we’ve all been waiting for. The Halloween candy slide is here:
