“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”
The question the media failed to ask but need to get an answer to ASAP: has the president transferred authority to Pence in the last 24 hours.
Look, this campaign season is done. It is an ex-campaign season. It’s over when the White House officials start sending out corrections on background and aren’t hiding from the camera.
They’re losing their composure at the White House and are desperately in need of direction.
***********
Omg, media, isn’t it clear why the WH told a completely different story from the doctor about how serious this is??
The wheels are falling off the bus at the White House. More people are testing positive. Everyone is scared silly. AND, Finally, but most importantly, Trump did not leave a bunch of principled braintrusts at the White House to take the initiative and keep the place from collapsing.
They are sending out an SOS.
So much for herd mentality. It’s everyone for themselves right now.
Some television pundits are calling for Biden to suspend his campaign. No. This would be destabilizing. Biden should continue explaining his plan for the future including managing the virus. It would be disastrous for him to retreat now. He is a true leader. We need hope
I can only imagine which pundits are shrieking that it’s no fairsies that Biden won’t suspend while Trump is recovering and doing “really well” in the hospital.
We can dispense with that notion very easily:
Remember back in 2016 when Hillary Clinton had pneumonia and had to take a few weeks off from campaigning and Trump thoughtfully also suspended his campaign and graciously asked the media to not pile on her?
Nope. Because IT NEVER HAPPENED.
From what I remember, he stomped all over her and said she didn’t have stamina and all that.
So, you know, Biden isn’t obligated to cut his opponent a break because Trump obnoxiously defied CDC recommendations and deliberately exposed himself to a deadly virus.

Update: Chris Christie has tested positive.
Update, Update: Sounds like Trump doesn’t need supplemental oxygen – today. Clear implication that he needed it Thursday or yesterday.
Never before has there been such a clear demonstration by the universe that you need to take pandemic viruses seriously.
Barrett’s nomination ceremony was clearly a superspreader event. The number of positive cases continues to climb. And at this point, if three senators on the Judiciary committee get seriously ill, Mitch McConnell will not have the votes to push Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination through. That probably won’t stop him from trying but he’s losing his bare 51 vote “majority” at a rapid clip.
The number of little red circles on the rose garden seating plan for the ceremony last week is growing. It would be a farce if it weren’t so serious. (Senator Ron Johnson just announced he is positive but he’s not circled on the map above. He’s a couple seats to the left of Sen. Mike Lee. Johnson has a mask on. Hmmmm…)
Is this a eucatastrophe in progress? Or is it just not nice to fool Mother Nature?

Tidbits on Trump’s condition (take with a grain of salt but they kind of makes sense):
Speculation is that Trump was positive at the debate and contagious. The speech he made at his Duluth, MN rally was cut short (45 minutes) and he already seemed affected in his voice and energy level.)
He was “spooked” at how quickly his symptoms were worsening. His condition deteriorated over the day yesterday. He was transferred to the hospital as a way to save face. The optics would have been bad if he hadn’t been able to walk or had visible oxygen. (One tweet by a keen observer suspects that a portable oxygen concentrator outline can be seen under his jacket. The tube would have snaked up his back and run under his mask. Most photos of him yesterday are from a distance. The White House press photographers were not present when he entered the helicopter. It’s just speculation though. That outline could have been anything squarular.)
So, my uneducated guess is that he’s sicker than he would be if he just had a cold. He’s had the virus for longer than just a few days. The symptoms worsened. He might have had a drop in blood oxygen levels. The trip to the hospital was necessary.
He’ll still probably pull through. But he might not feel up to campaigning for awhile.
Or much of anything else.

Keep an eye out for news on these guys who attended the Duluth MN rally, maskless, and then proceeded to shake hands with Trump who probably shed large quantities virus all over them.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Congressman Tom EmmerFormer Congressman Sean Duffy.
Sean Duffy’s got 9 kids, one of whom has a serious heart condition. Soooo, that’s not good.
