Because the family of a mentally ill Philadelphia man holding a knife called for an ambulance, and the cops showed up. They claim he “charged” them and they shot and killed him. The mental health unit is a pilot program and isn’t paid to work on the weekends. Protesters didn’t do this, looters did. (Maybe … Continue reading Here was my neighborhood last nigh […]

    • Interview Part 2: Politics Thru Climate Change
This second excerpt from my interview is more interesting and longer. This is the second clip from my interview with Ian Welsh (Ian blogs at ianwelsh.net). For this segment, we went on a wild ride discussing the big picture mess that is US politics and society more broadly. I asked Ian what might happen if […]

PSA: how to correctly complete your mail-in ballot in PA

These are arriving in mail boxes to show voters exactly what they need to do in order to complete their mail in ballots so that they are not disqualified. Everyone is encouraged to send back ballots early so that they can be processed and counted on Election Day. Pass it around:

Allegheny county started mailing ballots on Wednesday. The county has approved a whopping 314,000 ballots for voting by mail.

That’s f{}%ing amazing. No wonder Trump is spooked.

  1. If Pa just started sending ballots out this week, how do we have the 9 mystery ballots in the garbage at the Board of Elections?

    • I believe that voting by absentee ballot (mail in is the same) began on September 14 in some PA counties. Curious how the ballots they threw out were mostly for Trump. How did THAT happen?

    • Actually, the whole thing sounds hinky. They’re not even supposed to do pre-canvassing yet.

    • The Military and Overseas ballots were mailed out by Luzerne County on August 25. So that answers a few of the questions I had, but still why were they opened, and now what is the political affiliation of the fired temporary worker, this has all the smell and feel of a standard Republican ratfuck

      • Did you see Wolf yesterday? He was furious about something. I have never seen or heard him so angry. There’s a lot going on behind the scene I’m sure but it’s really difficult to make a bean counter like wolf so mad.

        • I didn’t catch anything on the news, but from what I gather he was bashing Trump for holding another super-spreader campaign event in PA, Harrisburg this time

          • That was at the end of his day. Earlier he was ripping Republicans a new one for sending him stupid Covid restriction relaxation bills with impossible conditions for him to sign.

The Magical Mystery Tour. Host Tom Wood takes a look at the Beatles from a different angle each week.

Friday nights 9 PM – 12 AM North American Central Time:

Beaker Street, the legendary rock radio program, has returned. Iconic host Clyde Clifford has returned from his medical absence.

Both shows can be found at http://arkansasrocks.com/

If you can’t catch Beaker Street live, MP3 files are available soon afterward at https://beakerstreetsetlists.com/

  3. I’m glad that PA has their law that forces electors to obey the voters. And that PA’s Secretary of State is doing her best to get the votes counted rapidly in the most transparent way. Not so ironically the Republicans are fighting for a slower vote count in PA order to provide scope for Trump to create mischief. https://www.mcall.com/news/elections/mc-nws-pa-election-count-could-take-days-boockvar-20200923-ecku2oqgszgtjapk6oz4vlkpua-story.html

I assume Gellman knew about PA’s law that requires electors to obey the voters, when he wrote the article in the Atlantic. Despite this, at least some PA Republicans must be thinking that with the courts stacked in their favor they might have a fighting chance, by citing the US Constitution, to appoint a slate of electors they like. Which would leave PA with two slates of electors competing for legitimacy.

At that point the US House would decide which slate to certify, assuming neither candidate had earned 270 votes yet. We need a blue landslide to make such machinations as difficult as possible.

    • I read somewhere that the way Republicans get around Wolf is they pass a resolution that bypasses him.
Still, they won’t get away with it. They just won’t. It will be like another French Revolution.

  4. Here in Lehigh county they have just announced there will be six ballot collection boxes, and as luck would have it, one is in our township municipal building.

  5. I just got an email from Casey (will Toomey do the same) saying you can drop your ballot off at your county election board with no other drop off points indicated. Went to check out that location and it is a PO Box. How the hell does that work? Not sure they are open today, will check it out. No ballot yet, was told via an earlier email if was sent and I should have it in 10 to 14 days, that will be Oct 5 for me. Jmac, i would love to be able to drop off at my township building. Wonder why your county has more than one location and my country [Montgomery) has only one in Norristown where the courthouse is….

    • We have a 11 drop off points in Montco, woo hoo!

      • Well hopefully, one is close to you. We still don’t have ballots yet here either, I think Lehigh is supposed to send them out next week.

I would be you have to go the the Election County office to drop a ballot off, 425 Swede St, Norristown according to what I see.

    • I got the email 4 days ago that the ballots were being mailed out shortly. Gotta check the mail box.
