    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – September 27, 2020
by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

Everyone can read his thought bubble

Donald Trump really said this today:

President Trump said Thursday that he does not want to fund the U.S. Postal Service because Democrats are seeking to expand mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic, making explicit the reason he has declined to approve $25 billion in emergency funding for the cash-strapped agency.

“Now, they need that money in order to make the post office work, so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo. He added: “Now, if we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting, they just can’t have it.”

To summarize, no one gets money for testing, unemployment, food security, state and local governments because annoying orange thinks “universal mail-in voting” is a bad thing.

It just did happen here.

  1. This is becoming a big news story, but I have yet to hear anyone come up with a way around this. Right now, there seems to be a chance that, say, 30 million ballots will be held invalid because they did not get there on time, because the post office would not deliver or even sort them.

Saying that is illegal or unconstitutional is not enough, because they don’t care, just like the mafia does not care if people say that. All the Republicans want to do is to have themselves ahead on election night, and then declare themselves the winners. All ballots which come in after that, they will declare invalid or too late. We know what the Supreme Court in 2000 did; the Republicans delayed the vote count, because they knew they would lose, and then the the Court said that it was too late to count, so Bush wins. They’d do it again. There is no appeal to decency or justice or any decent thing which would matter to Trump and Barr. If they could have the post offices or polling stations burn the ballots, they would do that. I think that has happened in various foreign countries.
They do not care if 70% of Americans think they cheated. They want the power and the money. So someone had better figure out what to do here. They would love to keep the power, and then just fend off lawsuits and subpoenas. They’ve done that for four years. They are well prepared for people to “take to the streets,’ they would slaughter them. And clearly, they would rather cheat in this fashion than provide monetary and health relief, we see that from the Senate just walking away. if someone has a good plan to stop this, I want to see it. Pelosi and 175 House Democrats signed a letter demanding this be fixed, but that is not a majority. i was thinking that she could simply cut off all House funds for everything, but she cannot do it now. Alternatively,. everyone might have to vote in person. You know that the Republicans will. Complaining, or saying, ‘ this is wrong, a disgrace to democracy,’ is completely ignored and mocked by Trump’s criminal gang.

  2. Ask yourself, why has trump taken such overtly draconian steps to stop voting by mail? The answer to me is obvious…Russia can’t hack the mail in votes or stop the postal service from delivering them, but they sure as hell can hack the voting systems and alter the votes to favor trump.

Last year, former Congressman Bill Nelson warned Florida election systems were susceptible to Russian cyberattacks. Nelson, who lost the election to Florida Gov. Rick Scott, said “Russians had gained access to Florida voter data but didn’t offer any details.” They are still using the very same voting systems where the votes were changed in the 2006 documentary “Hacking Democracy”. No security changes have been made to protect these voting systems.

I just bet all those conversations that trump has been having with putin. the last several months deal directly with how Russia could hack the voting systems and change the outcome to favor trump. Could that be the reason for trump’s all out war on the postal service right before the November election? After all, if trump loses, the chances are high he is going to be indicted for the many crimes he’s committed in the case where he is named as “Individual 1” and Cohen went to jail for.

I’m taking my own actions to get around trump and called my elections office to request a mail in ballot. However, I told them that I did not want to mail it in considering trump’s all out attack on the Post Office tp make it impossible for them to deliver the mail in votes on time and was told that, in accordance with Texas law, I could bring the ballot in myself to the central elections office in my county on election day to ensure that it would arrive on time to be counted. That’s how I’m dealing with this dictator’s blatant efforts to steal the election.
