    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – September 27, 2020
by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

He can’t think ahead

So today, Trump said this about Covid 19 and FaceBook and Twitter called him on it:

It’s about time.

Speaking of time, Georgia opened its schools on Monday and there are already outbreaks. One second grade class is quarantined because one kid tested positive and got sick. Yes! Actual symptoms.

I get it that all the red states are full of gung-ho let’s get the younguns back to the classroom – Now. But just like the virus couldn’t be confined to blue states, it’s going to be impossible to keep Covid from spreading like wildfire, with kiddos taking it home and infecting their families.

Mark my words, there will come a day when a class full of second graders are going to be traumatized and undergoing grief counseling when they find out that one of them spread the virus that killed Mrs. Taylor.

Count on Trump to not think about the repercussions and count on the Trump base to be in denial, then angry and downright hostile towards the “liberals” and anti-trumpers who are harshing their mellow with the bright cold light of reality.

There are 90 days until the election but I’m betting the virus wins this round. It’s hard to ignore your family members dropping like flies all around you while continuing to blame the victims for their lack of personal responsibility.

If it weren’t a horrific life and death situation, it could be entertaining to watch. But then, it has to be personally horrific or they just won’t get it.

Oh, they’re going to get it alright.

Worser and Worser

The slow down of the mail has consequences:

Imagine if you were waiting for a check or documentation.

Imagine if it’s your kid’s prescription for albuterol.

And all of this because one party can’t let the rest of us vote them out of office.
