    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – September 27, 2020
by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

Only in America.

Trump’s favorite new doctor is touting the miracle cure of hydroxychloroquine. She’s also a bit of a mixed bag:

Before Trump and his supporters embrace Immanuel’s medical expertise, though, they should consider other medical claims Immanuel has made—including those about alien DNA and the physical effects of having sex with witches and demons in your dreams.

Immanuel, a pediatrician and a religious minister, has a history of making bizarre claims about medical topics and other issues. She has often claimed that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches.

Yes, but the orgasms are fantastic!

Immanuel claims to have cured hundreds of cases of Covid-19 with HCQ. This runs contrary with the many studies from here and other countries that show HCQ is ineffective and can cause life threatening heart arrhythmias. Funny, Immanuel says masks are unnecessary as well, which just goes to show that you can find someone to say anything you want them to say if you are president.

But here’s the thing I found interesting in this article:

Immanuel gave her viral speech on the steps of the Supreme Court at the “White Coat Summit,” a gathering of a handful of doctors who call themselves America’s Frontline Doctors and dispute the medical consensus on the novel coronavirus. The event was organized by the right-wing group Tea Party Patriots, which is backed by wealthy Republican donors.

Ahhh, the donors. Of course. They want the workers to be obedient, forget about their own health and get back to work ASAP. And what better way to do it than by hiring your own “expert” to tell you to ignore your lying eyes and the experiences of every other nation in the world.

Get back on the job and do it quickly before this calamity wipes out all the gains they made from their rapacious tax cuts.

Meanwhile, the GOP is in disarray in the senate over the next bailout package. Looks like Mitch is willing to just let the unemployment benefits expire and city and state assistance disappear. Never let a crisis go without getting something. What does he want?

Well, this clip from the late George Carlin gives us a clue. The guy was ahead of his time. I’m wondering what he would have made of Dr. Immanuel?

  1. They showed a clip of her on the news last night, and it is even worse than one would imagine by reading about her. it was like some kind of weird religious service. Somebody tells Trump that some person supports him, and he immediately praises that person, even though he knows nothing about him or her. She is a woman, she is Black, she says that masks don’t work, so he thinks she is a great doctor, many say so. If they keep showing her on TV, maybe even some of his followers will start to have doubts about Trump

It is almost like a fairy tale/parable story. They can’t get rid of the virus by ignoring it, or pretending it is mostly gone, or by speaking in tongues about it, or forcing children to contract it by going back to school, and saying that they are fine. This mention of demons does take us back to medieval times, perhaps the flagellants will soon appear. And of course they will start blaming all of this on the Jews. When the Plague raged, and it was found that some towns with Jewish people had less deaths, which of course was because of the dietary and health laws they followed, it was claimed that it was because they were in league with the devil, and this gave the self-described pious Christians more of an excuse to murder Jewish people. Trump and his cult need a scapegoat, and they will keep trying to make up one.

    • I have had enough demon talk in my life. If you’re going to blame demons for anything, you should be required to prove their existence.
What Trump is doing is pretty simple. He wants full employment and he wants it NOW. So he’ll find one “expert” that disqualifies everything all the other doctors say about the virus. This is typical right wing behavior. They pull the same stuff on climate change and anything else they don’t like. It only takes one person with credentials, crazy or not, to discredit everything else.
It’s greed mixed with oppositional defiance disorder.

    • I have noticed that in the Age of Trump, the American Right is re-discovering the anti-Semitic portion of its heritage. Before Trump, during my adult life, the mainstream of American conservatism was remarkably free of anti-Semitism, compared to the conservatisms of other Western nations.

Yeah, there was the occasional old-style Ratzi-wannabe like poor Pat Buchanan, who can barely stop that right arm from flying up at inopportune moments , but they were mostly kept in conservatism’s attic. Social media has given them a space to fly their freak flags proudly. 🙄

  2. The Boss Demon himself, Lucifer, tried to buy my soul once.

The cheap bastard wouldn’t spring for full health and dental insurance, so I told him to fuck off.

  3. I just found this on Imgur.

Lest we forget who the REAL “welfare bums” are…
