Here’s the latest poll results:

After the last four years there are still 38% of Americans who think Trump is doing a good job as president.
It’s always stuck at 37-38%.
There is probably nothing anyone can do to change their minds. It’s like they have no free will. They are incapable of responding to their environment.
I used to think that there could be something that would shake loose a few more people, that surely, some of them still had values that they weren’t willing to compromise.
Apparently not.
We’ve got to get through this with the other 62%.

Because of the Electoral College, Biden would probably need to win the popular vote by 6% to have a strong chance of winning. It could be done with less, if it broke right, but 4% might not do it. So that means that he or any Democratic candidate now or in the future needs at least 53% of the vote, when there is no viable third party candidate. That also means Trump’s vote cannot be as high as 47%.
Snoop Doggy Dog wanted to let us know that although he has never voted in his entire life, he will be voting against Trump. This can be looked at in more than one way. Had a number of Black people chosen not to vote in 2016, Hillary would have won. Had a bunch of Bernie Bros disdained voting for Hillary, she would have won. Had there not been massive voter suppression in WI MI and PA, among other states, she would have won. If Democrats are actually to win elections and run the country, they have go vote en masse and consistently, not find excuses not to vote, or only to vote if someone from their ethnicity or political niche is on the ballot. And trying to extort fealty from the Democratic candidate unless he or she does everything you want them to, is a sure recipe for letting the Republican fascists run the country. This could have been figured out decades ago, but it has not been, except on occasion.
From my vantage point, “Defund the police.” is a very foolish slogan for an all-or-nothing election. These things always become the desperately sought for fodder for Republicans. Trump is claiming that Democrats will defund the police, defund the military. Interestingly, Democrats almost never try to scare the voters as to what will happen if the Republicans win, but they should. Maybe I worry about all these things too much, but given where the country is now, it is hard to say that it is not warranted. For me, all these protests for two weeks, all the lack of social distancing, various images of looting, can have bad effects. I remember 1968, and 1972, and 1988, and some others. One thing Republicans have going for them, in a perverse way, is that they almost always march in lockstep, do not have purity demands of their candidates or party, just place winning above everything else. They don’t even have ” a coalition,” to satisfy, they just want to win, and figure that this will give them enough of what they want, plus their enemies lose. Many Democrats only define winning in terms of getting everything they want, and scream and threaten when they do not. Hopefully this is one of those times when they will not, for the sake of the country’s survival.
“not chosen not to vote,” “not disdained.”
