No… He’s really taking it

There is a lot of speculation about Trump’s self-report that be is taking hydroxychloroquine. Mostly, people don’t believe he’s actually taking it.

But friends, I know he’s taking it. In fact, I think he’s going to double his dose as soon as another person in the White House tests positive.

By the way, has anyone seen Pence?

So, what makes me say he’s taking it? Easy.

1.) No one is the boss of him. No one has been able to tell Trump to do or not do anything since he was a kid. His parents should have hired super nanny but instead, shipped him off to a military academy. Where I come from, that’s where bad boys with a future record go to get their asses straightened out. But even that didn’t work. He was just biding his time for when he could be president and get even with the military in general. I mean the generals. How many has he fired? I’ve lost count.

2.) He’s a Fox News fan. I wish the stereotype about Fox News fans was inaccurate. Nay, say I. I have met the enemy and she/he excels at wishful thinking. My dad used to say “wishing doesn’t make it so”. It was part of his “rude awakening” soliloquy. I took it to heart. Regrettably, not everyone in my family did so. I have lived to see people I know suggesting that it is fine to drink a baking soda concoction to make their blood alkaline as a treatment for cancer.

“Nonsense”, says me, “your blood is already slightly basic. It has a pH of 7.4”.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. Dr. Larraine Day prescribes it. What makes you the expert??”

“Uh, my degree in Chemistry and 23 years in research?”

“I don’t like the way you think. Next think you’ll tell me is that lemon juice isn’t alkaline”

“Nope. What’s the point. Just don’t shoot your tumor with bleach anymore, ok? I think that might be dangerous. Who gave you that hypodermic anyway?”

“You elites think you know everything.”

(That was an actual conversation. You may be surprised to know that baking soda and bleach injections are not a cure for cancer but then that was an n of one so what do I know?)

3.) Trump is a notorious germophobe. Reports say he was “lava level” mad when he heard his valet tested positive. Note the “phobe” part of germophobe. If my experience with the irrational base personality can be extrapolated to Trump, he probably had a massive freak out and panic attack. It might already be IN his body and it’s all the fault of that damn military attaché. It’s in there, doing its virally thing. Oh, woe is him! He’s going to die. They’re going to put a germy tube down his throat and take pictures and show them to the rest of the world. Holy shit! Angela is going to see him with a mask on but not the cool mask. One of those plasticky things with the long snakey hoses that go to an oxygen tank. He’ll be propped up in bed on pillow in a hospital bed like all the other Coronavirus LOOOOOSERRS. HOLY FUCK!! WHO’S GOING TO DO HIS HAIR AND MAKEUP!?? WHY IS GOD A NEVER TRUMPER??

That’s when he called his doctor back in Manhattan for a HCQ Rx. Dude had to put down his blunt and read him the side effects and told him about the prolonged QT interval. Cutie, huh? Probably sounded like some kind of ED cure to Donald.

So, I think he’s really taking it. He’s thinking that if he takes it early, it will stop the virus in its tracks. Then he can strut around maskless again like some cock on the walk.

Did anyone tell him that there’s a possibility that you can get it again?

Ha! Damn elitist “experts”. He’ll show them. Where’s that hypodermic needle?

  1. Was that a typo, or did that other person actually think lemon juice, one of the most acidic food items that is not actually SO acidic as to be dangerous, is alkaline?

I was leaning to the idea that Benedict Donald was lying about taking HCQ.

If anyone was wondering how a large minority of well-organized, well-financed fanatics, and the grifters and tycoons who manipulate them, could take over our government:

    • No that was not a typo. It came up several times. She was looking for validation for her misconception of the pH scale and would not accept that lemon juice was on the opposite end from baking soda. I kept not giving her validation. Apparently, that made me a smart ass coastal elite.
I had to drop it. Like I dropped the argument she kept trying to force me to have about creationism and Adam and Eve.
      It’s not worth the ulcers.

    • I’m not kidding about the bleach in the tumor thing.
And I got a lot of “why did *I* get cancer?? I did everything right! I loved god and wasn’t promiscuous etc etc”.
Plus, “Chemo doesn’t work!! Did you ever know anyone who was cured by chemo?? I don’t. That’s because the doctors are lying to people. They don’t know anything”.

Except, my oncologist told me I had a PCR to chemo. Soooo, you know…. there’s that.

    • Shameful.

  2. RD,

Maybe trump is taking the hydroxychloroquine but I believe he would lie to his base whether he’s taking it or not because he knows they would start taking the drug if he said he was in hopes of boosting his financial interest in the drug. The man is capable of anything when it comes to acquiring more money and power. He has proven this by his daily betrayal of our country, the American people and everything we stand for and believe in from the moment he lied about his oath of office.

Doctors have made clear that there are lethal side effects to this drug, particularly for a morbidly obese person (as Pelosi so aptly pointed out) to take. We all know that he is dictatorial and always defies anyone who tells him not to do something (even for his own good), so maybe it’s for the best, even poetic, that he is finally down by his extreme narcissim and psychotic delusions of grandeur that have caused such pain and suffering for the American people.

    • I don’t believe he’s not taking it.
I’ve seen the conventional wisdom on the subject today all over the place like this is some kind of ninja lie he’s playing. But I’m honest to goodness convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that he’s taking it. He really is that kind of person.
In fact, it would be better for all of us non Trumpers to take him at his word. Taking HCQ means he’s scared to death. He is no warrior. He’s a coward.

  3. It’s not a new book but I recommend “The Age of American Unreason,” in which Susan Jacoby examines the hostility of conservatives toward science and education. They believe their intuiton and superior common sense (their guts, if you will) give them more expertise than doctors and scientist with all their “book learning.” The book was chilling when I read it ten years ago; even more so now, of course. https://www.npr.org/books/titles/138253318/the-age-of-american-unreason

  4. Another not-new book is the late Carl Sagan’s The Demon-Haunted World:

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness…

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.”

And this was published in 1996, before the explosion of social media really ushered in the Idiocracy.

    • All true. Not even Carl could, in his wildest dreams, forsee the Trump presidency.

  5. RD, I do hope that you are having a very nice vacation.

Well, there is no way to be sure about anything Trump says, because he has no filter whatsoever which might get him to tell the truth even a tenth of the time. He”ll say anything which he thinks can benefit him in some way. So no logic will get one to the right answer here, it’s like guessing what card you might pull out of a deck. Sometimes it is interesting to try to figure out the antecedents with Trump. In this case, he said that he was taking the drug some two weeks later. Why did he not say so then? He didn’t just toss it in, he wanted to tell people this. Why? This is someone who has done everything possible to hide all of his medical records. So why suddenly let everyone know that he is taking hydroxychloroquine?, and that he started two weeks ago?

The easy guess for why he said it, is that he wants people to buy the drug, this making a big profit for him and his family. He was touting it for weeks, and that would likely be for the same reason.. Does he believe his own hawking? He said that many frontline workers are using it, and that is a complete lie. Is he doing everything he can do get people to buy the drug, even taking it himself, like the con man at the carnival drinking his own concoction? Or is this just another con? if he is so worried about getting sick, why does he not wear a mask? The medical profession is now saying that this drug is dangerous and should not be taken with regard to the virus. Assuming that Trump is not sick in another two weeks, he can then say that it really helped him, so everyone should buy it; and then he can kill some more people in a new way” Biden came up with a rather silly nickname for him, “Twitter Man.” I think Trump should be called “The Merchant of Death.” I like the image of that on a campaign ad,!

  6. Trump is not taking the drug because he doesn’t believe his own lies. He knows that it won’t do a damn thing to benefit him. He would be better off taking any number of other potential options, like vitamin C or blood thinners, or like you say, wearing a mask. Maybe he is wearing a mask, but it is invisible. Kind of like a spray on tan, burca spray on mask. I heard his cut of any profits in the drug is not that significant and it is a generic, so I don’t know about that aspect. I think he is saying he is taking it for pure shock value and distraction. When he announced it, he reminded me of a teenager that was waiting for his peers to react to some goofball stunt. He is a stunted human being, but he is also evil incarnate and doesn’t care how many people he harms. However, he knows better than to believe his own crap.

    • lililam, that is a very good insight, that he may just like to get a reaction, so everyone will talk about what he said. If he is taking it, that would be the only reason for him to tell everyone. Maybe so that he can say that it really worked for him, that he is right and the scientists are wrong, which seems to be the raison d’etre of the Republican Party. I heard that the Texas Republican Convention will have a mandatory “no masks worn” rule. They have lost their minds, or maybe it is the ultimate extension of their phony religiousness.

    • lililam,

I don’t believe he’s taking it either. No one knows for sure. I do believe, absolutely that he publicly stated that he was taking it because he knew that his cult-like followers would go follow blindly and take the drug too in order to increase the money made in his investment in the drug. He is all about money and power by any means necessary whenever possible.

I will never understand why people continue to follow this unbelievably poor excuse for a human being.
