Buy a Large Plain, send money to Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank

Today is not a beach day, but I have my bathing suit under my jeans and T anyway.

Speaking of T’s, I have a favor/request to ask of you. Some of my favorite people own a pizza shop in Pittsburgh. They’re here with me at the beach. They have a fundraiser to combat food insecurity. If you purchase one of their T-shirts for $20.00, they will donate the proceeds to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The food bank is located in Duquesne, on the banks of the Monongahela river. It services numerous food pantries in Pittsburgh’s diverse neighborhoods including a Kosher food pantry in Squirrel Hill where I used to volunteer. They also help set up Grab and Go stations at local public schools so that kids on subsidized lunches don’t miss any meals. Lately, they have been very busy. You can read about their many events and activities to serve our city. :

Large Plain has a fundraising goal of $2000. They are halfway there. And that $2000 will feed 10,000 families. That’s a multiplier effect that can’t be beat.

Not only that, but the owner and his girlfriend are getting married at the end of this month. I’d love for them to make their goal as part of their wedding present.

So, can you help us meet our goal? We’re halfway there. Only $1000 more to raise. Help us do something beautiful for Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.

Here’s the link: Yinz got this! Fundraiser Shirt. Pass it around. Thanks!

  1. 2 down, 48 T shirts to go!!!

  2. Are you at the beach finally for a vacation??? Hooray for you if you are!

    • Yes! YES I AM! We picked this week to avoid hurricanes since I have had 3 ruined by them. We carefully checked the almanac for average daytime temps and sunshine. This week was perfect.
And then the first named tropical storm of the hurricane season jumped the queue two weeks before the start of hurricane season!
Tropical Storm Arthur is parked right offshore from where we are with rain, cloudy skies and subnormal temps. Arthur, the once and future storm.
We are hoping it clears a bit this week because I’m beginning to feel cursed.

  3. Please, build a big Sand Castle, so we all Conflucians can moving in and away from the Trumpvid virus.
    Enjoy your e-vac.

  4. RD, I don’t need another t shirt, may i send $ to Large Plain with a note that i saw their t shirt fundraiser appeal on your blog?

P.S.: Have a fabulous evacucation, without the hurricane!
