The people who need to a good shit-kicking are most politicians, CEOs, and senior civilians. Well, and cops, obviously. And they need to know the cops can’t protect them from another one. The President, the mayor of New York, the Governor of New York, almost everyone who works for the Federal Reserve, all senior Wall […]

Lean On Me: Bill Withers.

Bill Withers died today from heart complications. He was 81.

He left us a theme song for this time in our lives:

  1. Withers sang the lead vocals on this song.

  2. Love that tune Ivory Bill.
Damn, now Ellis Marsalis is gone too :(.

But Trump, Kushner, and friends should go to jail for this. https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1245906088911949826

Looks like Feds are routing medical supplies to preferred distributors who sell to the highest bidder. No wonder the states are scrambling. No wonder New York has paid up to 15x the usual price for PPE.

As noted in the link, General Honore, who was belatedly put in charge of cleaning up New Orleans after Katrina, says it should go VERY differently (h/t digby). The Defense Logistics Agency/ FEMA should be putting out requests for proposals and force the contractors to bid against each other. Instead the aid recipients have to do that.

Anyone doubting that the Trump family isn’t making a mint off of this? Anyone think they even care if anyone suffers/ dies needlessly?

My own guess. Jared thinks he can route enough supply to protect the red states. But their hospitals will also be overwhelmed due to their late shelter in place orders and because Trump refuses to get our industry in gear to produce whatever is needed when supplies run out. The idiot doesn’t even know how to cheat right.

    • IKR?? I thought about that too. If those red states are still running around infecting each other, then it really won’t matter how many ventilators and masks they have. There will still be plenty of deaths. Some of those deaths will be among patients on a ventilator who are not expected to survive or will be on a ventilator indefinitely. Even if Florida gets the best treatment possible, there are still plenty of people who are going to die. Italy had pretty decent healthcare and it was still a clusterfuck.
They can’t get around it. All the ventilators in the world can’t help them now. And there are two people who are completely responsible for that reality in Florida: DeSantis and Trump.
