Iceland

Iceland has kicked ass during this pandemic. It has allegedly tested everyone on the island. As a result, there is some interesting consensus reality challenging data out of Iceland that we all should be paying attention to.

For example, who is more likely to get Coronavirus. According to the data, it’s younger people:

The peak age group is 40-49. You might think it was older people because of the way many other nations are testing. That is, only the sickest get tested.

What this graph is telling me is partially what we’ve known all along. If you are older with an underlying health condition, you are more likely to become seriously ill. That’s what the red bars are saying.

But the virus is certainly not targeting old people. It’s in every population group. And since the most affected groups are younger, it’s probably just a matter of time or convergence of a series of unfortunate events (an expensive and exclusive healthcare system, poor political decisions, stupid vacationing decisions) before we see that reflected in the number of deaths in unlikely populations.
