The people who need to a good shit-kicking are most politicians, CEOs, and senior civilians. Well, and cops, obviously. And they need to know the cops can’t protect them from another one. The President, the mayor of New York, the Governor of New York, almost everyone who works for the Federal Reserve, all senior Wall […]

This is the thanks Michigan gets.

Trump is screwing Michigan. Hard.

He doesn’t like Governor Gretchen Whitmer, probably because Whitmer had the nerve to expect that the White House would operate in good faith to provide resources and supplies to fight coronavirus.

Instead, Trump can’t even say her name. He calls her “that woman”. It’s almost like he’s afraid of her and has to step on her neck. Is it possible that Whitmer is one of Biden’s VP choices and the pandemic gives Trump a perfect opportunity to discredit her? What are the chances that a sitting president would deliberately let people in Michigan die in order to score campaign points?

Who could imagine such a thing??

How about this Constitutional scholar who back in January predicted a very similar scenario:

This is what you get, Michiganders (wolverines?). You just had to be all drama queen about Hillary not kissing your asses in 2016 and now you have to kiss Trump’s ass to get the federal help you should expect as your birthright as Americans and deserve because you’re human beings.

BTW, maybe the governors of these states should have expected to get no federal help, in spite of the fact that we as taxpayers bought into the idea that our federal government would not be disabled by radical ideological extremists on the right. But it would have been only fair for Trump and the Republicans to state that up front while they were running for office or after they had taken office. It would have given the governors time to make alternate arrangements in case of a pandemic.

There are four states pooling their resources and working together through this crises: NY, NJ, CT and PA. It’s a shame that they have to form their own United States inside the United States.

Some on the right would say that’s our own personal and individual responsibilities. If that’s the case, why bother calling ourselves the United States in the first place?

And if Trump et al can force this independence on us during a pandemic, just imagine what they’re planning to do with social security if they’re re-elected.

  1. What are the chances that a sitting president would deliberately let people in Michigan die in order to score campaign points?

IMO the answer depends on the article used:

    a – very slim
    the – 100%

  2. RD, you left out one crucial word between “get,” and “Michiganders”.

    “White”.

But perhaps you thought it was so obvious that it need not be said.

THE CENTRAL PROBLEM OF THE USA, without which even the evil genius Putin would be helpless to damage us significantly:

  3. Not sure of the provenance, but it may have come from John Cleese:

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to the recent virus threat and have therefore raised their threat level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, the level may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.”

The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.

The virus has been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s Get the Bastard.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

  4. It’s the ultimate and predictable extension of partisanship and cultism. They’ve got their friends and their enemies, and the former get all the help, and the latter get none. It’s like some terribly perverted religious sect, except that they have national power. They count on the other side, our side, to do the humanitarian things when they are in power, and then they can trample over them and everyone who doesn’t help them or bow to them, when they are.

We can say that Trump behaves like a mob boss, which is true. But the unswerving support he gets from Republicans, many of whom say this kind of thing on their own, reflects that this so-called political party is made up of people thinking they are fighting a holy war in which anyone not like them is to be subjugated and/or destroyed. You know, even while I knew that it was so important that the Congress pass a relief package (most of which the Republicans of course earmarked for corporations), I almost wanted Pelosi to do nothing to help Trump and Republicans out of this crisis which they caused. But she is a kind and caring person, and would never do that. Republicans would, and are doing. Just imagine if Hillary Clinton ((or Bill Clinton or Barack Obama) were President during this kind of event, and how the Republicans would react. They would probably see it as their chance to overthrow the government by force, since that is always their goal, except that they usually can hold power by cheating in elections and suppressing votes and blocking hearings on Supreme Court nominees, so they don’t have to resort to that. But they would.

  5. There were no Democrats invited to the bill signing ceremony at the White House yesterday.

Trump now speculating about some kind of quarantine for New York and New Jersey, something about protecting people of Florida from New Yorkers coming there to infect the noble Floridians. Nothing about the people from NY and NJ and other places who were allowed to party on the beaches when not safe, and then fly back to their homes.

Trump i n his pervasive evil, still has some purpose to it, which is to pit the Red States against the Blue states, and win Florida, which is the key to the election. I say this a lot: Democrats need to either win all the Hillary states, plus WI, MI and PA, or lose one of them and win Florida. Nothing else will do, not even winning Arizona in lieu of Wisconsin. No one in the media is going to point out this obvious plan, but they should, it is behind virtually everything Trump is doing, besides his basic spitefulness and stupidity. I might want to pick Tammy Baldwin for VP, focus on sweeping those key Midwest states, and winning that way.

Apparently, Rhode Islanders, I don’t know if police, or who, are stopping cars in RI, looking to send New Yorkers back to their state. Does this remind you of “The Monsters are Coming to Maple Street” episode of the unforgettable “Twilight Zone”?

  7. Have you noticed our brain-addled narcissistic 5-yr-old is already campaigning against Cuomo? Name call him all you want, but he does know how to play HIS game. That lesson has still not been learned after nearly 4 years of losing to him at it. Playing to lose is not a plan or an option. And now life-and-death time is really really tight.
