The people who need to a good shit-kicking are most politicians, CEOs, and senior civilians. Well, and cops, obviously. And they need to know the cops can’t protect them from another one. It must run in the family.

I got that helpless feeling. Oh, wait, no I don’t.

When I was out of work and at possibly the lowest point in my life, my career counselors suggested I do some volunteer work. So several times a week, I went to a small food bank in a local neighborhood, stocked shelves and assisted families with emergency food supplies.

The Washington Post is reporting that many people are worried that they won’t be able to feed their families. They can’t afford to stock up with groceries while they hunker down.

I don’t know about you lovely people but the thought of any kid going to bed hungry makes my heart hurt. Parents also need to eat healthy to keep it together and get through the next couple of weeks.

So, what can I do? Physically, nothing. I’d love to work at a food bank but my recent treatments make me high risk. Virtually, there’s plenty I can do. I can donate money to a local food bank or national food charity. These experts can put your money to good use and multiply it like loaves and fishes.

Here are a couple of options:

Food Bank of Greater Pittsburgh

Feeding America

Don’t feel helpless. Help out.

And it goes without saying that hoarding hurts.

The shelves will get replenished. For those of us who can afford it, we aren’t going to run out. Take only what you need.

Kenny Rogers, 81

Kenny Rogers died of natural causes last night in Georgia.

You picked a fine time to leave us, Kenny.

I love country music. True story.
