    • Who Goes To Prison For America’s Crimes? The Whistleblowers.
There’s a joke about the CIA and torture, in that the only person who went to prison for torturing people was the guy who revealed the torture. Daniel Hale, the guy who revealed that drone bombing killed 90% innocents, is now off to his stint in jail. He seems tough, maybe he won’t be driven to multiple suicide attempts like Manning was by the deliberate mis […]

While we’re waiting for something to happen…

… this is the goal for my hair:

My hair has come back as platinum curls. It’s not as long as the pic above. When I say curls, I mean tight little corkscrew curls. Picture a white girl afro. Except I have read that calling it that, even though it is descriptive, is somehow appropriating African American culture. So I won’t call it that. 🙄

But that’s what it looks like.

It is completely unmanageable. My hair is about 1.5 inches all around. The front appears to be growing more slowly than the back but that’s probably my imagination. Life without bangs is harsh, friends. Really harsh.

If I get it wet, it gets gremlinesque. So curly that I can’t do anything with it except hide it under a wig, hoping the heat of the covering will make it relax. This works a bit. I end up with a Lord Byron/Napoleon hair do.

I bought a straightener with a tiny flat surface. (Well, there’s not that much hair for it to grab onto, is there?). And this works, sort of. It definitely gets rid of the curls temporarily but the result is hair that sticks straight up. I kid you not. It looks like I have a scrub brush on my head. It’s also all over the place, lacking direction, a part and motivation.

One whiff of humidity and it can’t take it anymore. The spring constant on this hair shaft must be strong. Boinnngggg!!

I know this is first world problem here. And to be honest, I don’t look too bad in super short hair. I just never had it before. In about 8 months, it should look pretty much like it does in the picture. I’ve got curly hair anyway so this should work for me. I’ve ordered new glasses to completely take me out of my comfort zone. That’s the one benefit of losing all your hair. You get to try new stuff. I recommend it. Go ahead, shave your head. You’ll see.

In the meantime, does anyone know how to get it to grow faster? Does biotin really work? Has anyone out there tried minoxidil for wimmin? Just curious.

  1. Minoxidil worked for a friend of mine but the result was she ended up with dark hair not her natural color.

  2. The hair in the picture looks nice . 🙂
