    • The NYTimes Reveals More Than It Means
Watch this video. It’s only 39 seconds. It’s worth it. What’s interesting to me about this video is NOT what Bernie says, it’s the reaction. It’s how genuinely uncomfortable the people interviewing him (The NYTimes editors) are. They really think he’s saying something terrible. Something awkward. Something embarrassing. What is he saying? “I ignore the […] […]

Shep Smith out at Fox a day after AG Barr meets with Murdoch

Coincidence?

From Vanity Fair today:

While hosts like Sean Hannity and Laura Ingrahamare as loyal as ever, the president has grown increasingly angry with other of the network’s reporters, including Chris Wallace and Shep Smith, along with polls that suggest its viewers are coming around on his impeachment. “It is so different than it used to be,” Trump lamentedThursday.

It was against this backdrop that William Barr,Trump’s dutiful attorney general, met with Fox News mogul Rupert Murdoch on Wednesday night. Why they met, or what they discussed, is not clear, according to the New York Times, which first reported the rendezvous. But the timing of the meeting—as Trump, under siege from Democrats, ramps up his criticism of Fox News—raised eyebrows, leading to questions about whether the administration is attempting to get the network back in line. “What is the Attorney General of the United States doing meeting with the owner of a private television network?” CNN’s Vicky Ward tweetedThursday.

I don’t know, Vicky, but Shep quit today.

Maybe they asked him to watch his tone or read from the script they hand him. Who knows??

I’m not a Fox News watcher. I’ve only heard of Shep Smith by reputation. It seems like he was marching to his own drummer lately and perhaps causing Trump’s poll numbers to look less than stellar.

Well, Trump doesn’t need to worry about that anymore. I’m sure that no Fox News watcher will even notice that Shep is gone. (Not even two weeks notice!)

There’s no connection to AG Barr doing his best to make Trump feel better and prevent anymore Republican voters from defecting due to all of the negative Nancy corruption stories.

Yeah, that oughta do it.

  1. I always admired Shep for speaking the truth on Fox news (i still remember his debunk of the Uranium One conspiracy theory) and wondered how he managed to stay on their air. I am sure he will land on his feet but i thought i heard that he cannot go on any other network for a period of time. Hmm…interesting, one of those non-competition clauses? Also learned that he is gay which surprised me with him being on Fox. I hope he is back to broadcasting as soon as the muzzle is removed. That Barr visit was no coincidence and blatant. Barr is a disgrace and should be impeached.

  2. Meanwhile John King and CNN panel are snickering about Hillary’s comments about a rematch. He said “I don’t think the democrats want Hillary to be out there speaking or to even speak at the Convention in Wisconsin” the entire panel nodding their heads smirking in agreement. Is this 2008 again? I was f*cking shocked. I don’t watch the news anymore but I would have thought after 13,000 lies and counting coming out of the WH they would have something better to do than treat Hillary with such contempt and disrespect and behave as if 66 million people do not exist. I am tired of Hillary’s legacy being erased and overlooked. Enough is e fucking bough!

  3. Seagrl, i am convinced they will never stop sniping and sneering, even after she has shuffled off the mortal coil, and anyone who does so is dead to me. And yes, 66 million of us don’t exist to the media or trump Corruption, Inc. A friend told me she would rather put a bullet in her brain than watch MSNBC so she watches CNN. She used to watch Fox.This country is so damaged.

  4. Hillary is currently respected and admired in no small part because the media elites show such contempt for her. These are same cretins who assured all of us that impeachment, in whatever iteration, would only increase Trump’s approval rating. Oddly, in spite of the fact that Shep Smith spent decades at Fox News, I have more regard for him than for that vast majority of establishment types on the big 3 networks or CNN or MSNBC. With a few notable exceptions.

    • I skimmed some comments on an article about Shep leaving. Most of them were negative about him and positive about him getting canned; I assume they are all Fox viewers glad to see him gone because he was “biased” and only provided “opinions” (his), not facts. Said among other things that he works for the Dems/Hillary/Obama and belongs on CNN or MSBNC. They also want Napolitano, Wallace and another guy gone for not singing trump’s praises.

  5. Speaking of which, I’m sure we can all recall how Matt Lauer gently coddled Trump while ripping into Hillary when he moderated their town hall sessions. So, yeah.

  6. It still infuriates me to this day that the media cannot bring themselves to say anything positive let alone admiring about Hillary. I guess then they would have to come to terms with their wicked complicity. When was the last time I read anywhere except on a Hillary site a positive article about her and her fine character and accomplishments? Both during the election and even now.

    • It’s the casual contempt that really does it for me, as if it’s common knowledge, as if everyone agrees that Hillary is bad, Trump speaks to real Americans & Obama is the most historic and greatest president evah!

      • They still barely mention that a woman was the nominee for a major party. It’s always with “regardless of what you think of Hillary…” when they still make a big stink about Obama at every turn – no preface, no questions asked. It’s all self important DC insiders.

I spoke to lawyer last night who hates Hillary since she’s “so corrupt and such a bad person” this very lawyer fresh out of passing the bar exam worked to screw over hard working people during the mortgage crisis. I told him that in contrast Hillary, fresh out of law school, went to work exposing racism in southern schools. So everyone else is allowed to be imperfect except for women in power it seems…

  7. Seagrl, did he tell you WHY he believes she is corrupt and a bad person? Those two words in particular are part of the indoctrination. Anyone i challenge on that has nothing except a huff and “I don’t want to talk about it.”

  8. Seagrl- “casual contempt” are exactly the right words to express what I find so maddening. I remember when The NY Times and other papers during the 2016 election finally wrote their endorsements, I was so surprised to find them saying anything positive about Hillary. I thought you mean they knew that all the time.

    • The world and country are going to hell in a handbasket, and yet the media returns to the comfortable cocoon of disparaging Hillary Clinton. There are people out there, sometimes on Twitter feeds, who say very nice things about her,,and wish that she were running, or better yet, were President. But the media mostly hates her. It crosses gender lines; the men hate her because she is smarter than they are; the women hate her because she is smarter than they are, and because she didn’t do the college sorority thing, and didn’t drink and flirt with rich Republicans at dinner parties in Washington. She got 65 million votes;at least 2.5 million votes were specifically suppressed; the Russians poured millions into fake news stories, the FBI Director disparaged her for spite, and lied about “new mails” which did not exist, Hillary is twenty times the statesperson that Warren or anyone else of the candidates are, but we are stuck with what we’ve got, and can only hope that people are so sick of the Republicans that the Democrat ekes out a very small victory. It is hard for me to imagine that either our field is so weak, or the setup is so bad, that the race is almost over before on caucus/primary has occurred.
