Tweet du Jour

And it’s still early…

Here’s the background information from Katy Tur. It’s a text exchange between the acting US ambassador to Ukraine and another US diplomat:

Notice the five hour gap between the last two texts.

7 Responses

  1. That gap with the “no quid pro quo” text five hours later are so telling. They (Guilliani, WH and/or State Dept) were being called out on the exact behavior they exhibited and there was scrambling after Taylor formally put it on the record.

  2. Oh, and if he’s so keen to “investigate corruption” regarding an American citizen, shouldn’t he be requesting that our domestic law enforcement and intelligence agencies initiate these investigations?

  3. This is exactly what totalitarian states do: jail or kill their opponents; make deals with other countries solely on the basis of what they can do for the dictator and his family. Allow this, and we are much closer to being one of those totalitarian countries.

It is wearying to see the same obfuscations, talking points, focus on terms like “quid pro quo,” which reflexively come out of Republicans’ mouths. When you keep badgering the leader of another country to do an investigation of/make up things about your political opponent, when you withhold crucial funds for months until they promise to do it, the words “quid pro quo,” do not have to be notarized. If the mafia come to your store and ask for “protection” money, and say that your store might accidentally be burned up if you do not pay it, this does not need to be written down in English or Latin. Any halfway cogent individual should realize this, though obviously the Republicans think they are stupid enough not to.

It appears that Trump and his cohorts have successfully damaged Biden. Next comes Warren and others. While the media keep debating the pros and cons of the talking points, the totalitarians are eliminating all of the threats to the permanent dictatorship. Being impeached would be considered by them as a worthwhile price to pay for this. Much of what they say and tweet is a smokescreen to hide the goal they are trying to reach.

  4. The planet is choking and burning up. Republicans will do nothing at all to save it. Democrats will try. Meanwhile, we hear the endless efforts by Republicans to keep Trump in office and elect him again. He is raising hundreds of millions of dollars from people who don’t care if the planet burns up, or are so abysmally stupid that they cannot comprehend this. Or maybe they are waiting for the “Rapture.”

And the voters keep hearing these discussions of how “The President and his people are arguing that there was no quid pro quo…: . They are now saying that Schiff is a material witness…: They want to support this President…”.”They are contending that Trump was just interested in rooting out corruption….’ All as if it is some interesting game in which both sides employ an intriguing. strategy, and we’ll see how it goes. The right-wing plants like Politico, The Hill, Axios, live for this, like those people who write twenty paragraph reviews of each episode of “Surivivor.” Meanwhile, the planet is burning up, and there is only one party which could possibly save it. But we hear everything but that, I guess because it is too terrifying to even think about, or the other gets better ratings, clicks, and ad buys, and that’s all that matters to the media/entertainment industry. Stand back a step or two and look at the tableau, and it is beyond rational comprehension. Existence just cannot devolve into an endless debating strategy in which one side never concedes any reality, just obscures, parries, and misdirects to infinity.

  5. Or maybe they are waiting for the “Rapture.”

    William, with the
Rapture Index only at 185 I think they will still have a wait.

  6. Off topic, but I just found this on Da Intertoobz and I had to share it with you lot, especially our blogmistress and her honorary sisters here. 😈
