Hi all,
A couple weeks ago, I was given a choice between a quick outpatient surgery followed by radiation or a more thorough surgery with no radiation.
I picked the latter. Yep, I want to get this over with and put it behind me. Today is the day. I’m getting an Angelina. I expect to be a little scarred but I’m planning to get a new implant soon and a beautiful tattoo in about a year.
So, I’m waiting to be called for surgery. It’s at 1:00pm. Then I may be incommunicado for a couple of days. Or maybe I’ll let the pain meds do the talking. That should be fun, right?
Wish me luck.
PS. Wake me immediately if Trump resigns.

You got this! But if Trump does resign, I’ll book a plane to Pittsburgh (?) and wake you up!
Best of luck, river daughter!
It’s a bummer but I have very strong trust in medical science and the strides made almost daily in this profession.
It won’t be long that this ordeal will definitely be behind you.
All the best.
The very best of luck!!
Love to you, warrior! thank you for fighting the good fight while fighting your own fight. ❤
Good luck! I’m sure it will all be over soon and you’ll be back to normal. Sure would be a riot to see you posting on pain meds. 🙂
Good luck… sending you good karma
Best of luck. Sending very good vibes
All the best, RD. Good karma, good vibes, and (as my desert dwelling ancestors would say: אל נא רפא נא לה
May the Ascended Madoka protect you, RD.
riverdaughter
the mostest goodest wishes & luck to you. i admire your spirit…
Ah, yet another opportunity for you to exceed expectations with a superb, better than ever hoped for, outcome. Crush it, RD, in your own inimitable style! Still wish you had gotten that pink wig though….
Dare I ask, what is an Angelina? Do mean Angelina Jolie and her publicly discussed reconstruction after a preventative double mastectomy?
Hi Cats, yeah, I mean half an Angelina. Just one not two. I have a tissue expander under my muscle. In a few weeks, they’ll start filling it with saline.
Just had breakfast. Feeling pretty good. The only pain in have at this point is like I’ve done 10000 deadlifts.
My appetite is back. I just wolfed down my breakfast.
As for the pink wig, my hair is coming back. I have a weird ridge of hair down the center of my scalp. Bought some purple and hot pink hair makeup last week. I’m going for violet. It’s pretty but it will be more impressive when my hair is about 1/2” longer.
Your buoyant attitude is so impressive, just the sound of “tissue expander” makes me cringe! Did you know Uppity just had a single mastectomy? She did not opt for the reconstruction, however, or the pain meds. You warriors are making we wimps look pretty bad, or at least wimpier than previously thought…
Violet is nice. Yeah, my hair went walk about after chemo back in ‘94. Mine came in curly, i normally have straight hair. It went back of course but it was a curious change. Glad the appetite is back, body needs fuel to heal!
All the luck in the world to you, my friend.
Best wishes to you, RD!
RD,
Maya Angelou said it best in her poem which she wrote for Hillary when the press and the republicans were trying to beat her down during her run for president. The words from that wonderful poem apply to you and the cancer which has tried to beat you down…I share them with, in part:
“Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.”
I know, like dust and air, you will rise!
Best of luck RD. I’ll be thinking of you and eager to see your next post! Sending love and light.
I wish you good luck, a successful surgery, a speedy recovery, and a long and healthy life afterward.
But I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Trump to resign if I was you.
Thank you, Niles. That means a lot to me. ☺️
“I wish you good luck, a successful surgery, a speedy recovery, and a long and healthy life afterward.”
Hey, Niles, we totally agree on something! Thank you for that.
