    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – September 27, 2020
by Tony Wikrent Slouching toward denouement Capitulation Will Not Halt Trump’s Coup David Sirota, September 24, 2020 An important review of political events last week. Yoy may not agree with Sirota’s interpretation, but his analyses has proven correct repeatedly. Remember that Sirota accurately outlined the future course of American politics in his 2008 book […]

More Random Observations.

Ivanka Trump is getting center stage in the last week. My best guess as to why is that the poll numbers for Trump with women are sliding due to security concerns and the Dickensian treatment of detained children seeking asylum.

Did E Jean Carroll’s description of Trump in a changing room contribute? Who knows. Maybe one or two women coming forward might have other agendas. But 22 of them who kept silent for decades for fear of retaliation – and then *getting* that retaliation? Yeah, that’s pretty hard to brush off. It starts to sound entirely too plausible after awhile.

So, keep an eye on the White House for more Ivanka as she attempts to stop the hemorrhaging while doing absolutely nothing to affect policy whatsoever.

Trump just made an ass of himself in North Korea and lowered the reputation of the United States around the world.

Let’s suck up to as many murderous strongmen as we can in 24 hours. That’ll show them NATO freeloaders.

One more infusion to go, guys. Sometimes, it feels like forever. I’ve got major fatigue, cratering white and red blood cells, and blisters on the soles of my feet. That was a new one. Didn’t expect that. Been walking around with socks on my poor toesies in upper 80 degree weather. One side benefit: I don’t have to shave my legs! Or anything else! My head is also not misshapen. So, you know, there’s that.

Still, I dream of a vacation at the beach. Like a week. No hurricanes. Since 2011, I’ve had nothing but no vacation or hurricane vacation or crazy relative ruined EVERYTHING vacation. I only wish I were exaggerating.

I’ve had a bit of a break in the past two weekends. My favorite Republican has taken good care of me. His kindness is astonishing.

But I’m really beginning to loathe the mere mention of the word “staycation”.

For now, a beach vacation is just a dream.

Identifying with the Glorious Sons in this song. It’s exhausting being sane all the time. Psychosis is definitely not a good thing from what I have observed but at least no one tells you to not take a rest.

  1. It’s almost like vacations are a thing of the past unless you are one of those people who can not be bothered by racking up debt on credit cards.

    • That is a bonus for the Right. The less you can travel, especially outside our borders, the less likely you are to learn how people outside your state and your country really think and feel, and so the more effective Right-controlled propaganda, from the “mainstream” as well as the openly wingnut media, becomes.

  2. RD, I do hope that you are back to approaching normal soon. And you certainly need some kind of vacation, even if it is just a few days in a beach cottage. I know that if you could manage it, you would, so I hope you can at some point reasonably soon.

  3. Polls are polls, and I suppose that one could lose all one’s sleep by worrying about them. But I do check them sometimes, and now I see that Democrats only lead on the generic Congressional ballot polls by 6% or so, down from about 10% a while ago. Democrats seem to always lead in these polls at some point, and then it closes to about nothing. This may happen again. I had thought that we might have a major change in the standing of the two parties, based on the 2018 elections, but maybe not. Trump still sits at 42-43% favorability in almost all polls, which is depressing in itself that so many people could be so deluded or stupid to think he is doing a good job.

There is certainly a chance that autocratic brainwashing, and media compliance and normalization is creating a majority of people who love Big Brother. For me, the last debate was not very helpful in showing the country how terribly dangerous and awful Trump is. And frankly, I don’t even know what the Democratic primary campaign is about, other than a sort of political beauty pageant, who seems the most “compelling” or “poised.'” I hope this gets better. Sometimes, in stories or reality, at one crucial moment, all the forces combine to cheat good and install evil and then you can’t right it again, or at least not for a very long time. Hillary’s “loss” betokened more than an easily fixable crack in our universe. And I know that whomever we nominate is not going to be as capable, knowledgeable, and poised on a debate stage, as Hillary. The people who like to think or say that “all we need is a candidate who is not Hillary, and then we will win big,” are fools. What we desperately need is a candidate with the stature and gifts of Hillary.

    • What we desperately need more than any other one thing, is for the demographic asteroid to arrive, and sweep my tribe of dinosaurs (I speak of non-elite white Americans; that is my “tribe) out of power.

It won’t take long, in historical terms, for polychrome America to become Social Democratic America. The future members of my tribe will be astonished at how much better off they are without white supremacy.

  4. If they were presented in the same language, how could we tell the difference? 😛

  5. One more infusion to go-one more.
    How about Providence or Newport?
    Margate City? Stone Harbor?

  6. 😈

  7. Get ready for the big parade tomorrow! 🙄

  8. MANKA!

(Make America North Korea Again) 😈

  9. I mused for a few seconds imagining what would have happened had President Hillary Clinton ordered a parade costing millions of dollars, with tanks and planes, where Democratic donors and representatives had VIP seats, and 2.5 million was stolen from the National Parks Service to help pay for it.I don’t think she would have been alive by midnight. Sic semper tyrannis

    • William exaggerates. HRC would merely have been impeached by midnight. 😉

  10. Happy Independence Day! 🙂
