It worked in Ukraine with Yulia Tymoshenko too. She was the Russian test case. Falsely accused of multiple crimes, lots of negative propaganda. Eventually, she was thrown in jail to get her out of the way. She was eventually released and exonerated.

I do not believe the Republic is dead, or even terminally ill.
But even if I am mistaken and it dies, the LORD my God will raise it from death, as He raised His Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Yes, me too. It concerns me a bit because this is what I saw on NC before WordPress decided to delay my new comments forever (everything I have tried to post there for the last 18 months disappears into the ether – despite Yves’s and Lambert’s assurances that I am not in commentary purgatory).

Yes, that is why Hillary is always getting “low favorable” numbers. The Right has hated her for 26 years. The Far Left has hated her for much of that, and the Sanders campaign, with Russia’s help, has stoked more of that. The worse thing is that much of the media, for whatever reasons of jealousy, misogyny, clubbishness, have contributed to this. I am trying to think back to any cable news person or journalist who had her back in the 2016 campaign, and I can come up with a very few. The Russians managed to play on the already ingrained irrational distrust and dislike of Hillary. Somehow she still managed to get 67 million or so votes, but if Sanders hadn’t kept attacking her, and if the media hadn’t gleefully read a bunch of red herring emails, she would have gotten another couple of million. It is interesting that Russia liked Sanders, if they could not get Trump.
IMO the blame for tRump lies at the feet of the Media and Obama, whose cave to McConnell in not pointing out the Russian tampering sealed the deal.
