    • The Well Meaning American Oligarchy Are SO Misunderstood
Just saw a case of the argument that “the people who have been enriching themselves by fucking everyone else for four decades are misunderstood, they’re just following the incentives, and suggesting that the people killing and impoverishing you are bad is polarizing.” Lovely. Everyone is well-meaning, and it’s all just a misunderstanding. They don’t mean […] […]

Trying to wrap my head around this…

Are there any dentists out there who can enlighten me about what services for underprivileged children, native Americans or Vets are considered “wasteful”?

I used to think that keeping all your teeth for a lifetime through preventative treatment was less wasteful than pulling teeth, abcesses, gum disease and dentures because these things lead to sickness, days of missed work and school, pain and chronic unemployment.

But what do I know.

  1. Not only that, but poor dental care is linked to a variety of other ailments including heart disease and possibly Alzheimers: https://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/news/20190125/gum-disease-bacteria-found-in-alzheimers-brains

  2. I hope it is okay to change the subject of the thread. Sherrod Brown declining to run is disappointing to me. Beyond that, it is likely to enhance Biden’s chances to win the nomination. It may well be somewhat of a replay of 2016, with Biden against Sanders, except that Hillary was more liberal and more articulate and knowledgeable than Biden. But we can’t possibly nominate Sanders, or we will lose. So is Biden the only option? I am no fan. But for someone else to get the nomination, they would somehow have to overtake both Biden and Sanders. Sanders will stay in forever, so if he gets 25% of the primary vote, that will make it almost impossible for any other liberal candidate to gain enough traction to surmount both him and Biden.

I was hoping for Brown to run, because I generally like him, and because he would have taken votes away from Sanders. It seems to me that whether one likes Harris or Warren or Klouchar , or Inslee, or anyone else, the only way to get one of those nominated is to completely destroy the Sanders candidacy, which is hard to do, as it is mostly a cult. Otherwise, we are very likely to have only three candidates a month after the Iowa caucuses, and they will be Biden, Sanders, and Harris. That is not what we were hoping for, which was a wide-open primary where many candidates would have a chance.

    • Biden is an incredibly weak front runner. He might be leading in the polls but he and Bernie together don’t even make up 1/2 of the party. More than likely once Biden actually starts running his numbers start to tank. Bernie’s should start tanking when after a few months he still has not released his tax returns. Bernie’s cult members are not 25%. They are probably more like 10 to 15%. His cult members are completely irrational. They need to be cut loose. We’ve got a base of 65 million voters. We just need to find and identify the other voters that are out there that will vote for us.
