This is not entirely original, but I forget from whom I am borrowing parts of it.
The GOP elite and the GOP masses have struck a Faustian bargain with each other. The elite said, “We’ll let you hate, if you’ll let us steal”, and the Stupid White Folks of Real Amurka said, “HELL YEAH! YEE-HAW!”.
(Or, as we call Stupid White Folks around here, “cr@wd@ds”.) 😉
Then, along came Putin and said to both groups, “I’ll let you McDucks steal, and you bigots hate, if you’ll accept my converting your country into a satellite of my country.”
And the GOP elite and masses said, ecstatically, “YES!”
The GOP is now cheerfully, wittingly or not, selling out our country, which they have spent several decades claiming to love more than the rest of us do.
The chief weakness in Putin’s scheme is that he needed to pick a craven nincompoop to be his American puppet, because an American Putin–someone who would have the brains and guts to make himself a dictator, which, thank the Ascended Madoka, Trump does not–could double-cross Putin once “American Putin” consolidated his power.
Putin knows his Russian history well enough to remember that Stalin cozied up to Hitler for about a year and a half–and then woke up the morning of June 22, 1941 with Hitler’s “friendship” buried between his shoulder blades.
