Be happy and be well. Please be careful about Covid. Viral load matters for infection, spending hours in a house with people is a great way to get infected. Halloween Trivia

The Night of the Living Dead by George Romero was filmed in the Pittsburgh area.

You’re welcome!

  2. Happy Halloween. You Pittsburghers really acquitted yourselves admirably yesterday.

    • Of course we did. We were fucking grid locked on the Busway.
But seriously, was he expecting an angry mob? I mean, I have no doubt that we can do angry mob. But this is our beautiful city and for the most part, we all get along. The angry mob was Trump and his entourage who screwed up rush hour and crashed funerals when no one wanted him there. You know, push yourself on someone, don’t take no for an answer. What does that sound like?

      • He made a PR video and tweeted it this morning saying you guys didn’t do nothing to him (his ego, really)! ‘small protest, far, far away,’ LOL… what a small, small, petty man.

  3. The 5 main girls of K-On!.

  4. Same bunch.

  5. Original character by Yoshiro Anbe.

  6. 4 kids so far came to the door. However, it’s starting to rain here, so I won’t be surprised if we only get a few more; we usually don’t get very many, anyway.

  7. If anyone is somehow looking around for scary movies, I would recommend “The Innocents,” with Deborah Kerr, which is a faithful version of James’ “The Turn of the Screw,” and “The Uninvited.” with Ray Milland. Also, a more recent movie which many may have seen, “The Others,” with Nicole Kidman.

    • The book on which it’s based, “The Univited” by Dorothy Macardle, is also a great read. It scared the daylights outta me when I first read it over forty years ago. Like “The Haunting of Hill House”, it’s great at using shivery suggestion rather than gruesome details.

    • “The Others” is a terrific movie, especially toward the end when the viewer has to revisit everything.

      • Yes, the revelatory scene sent chills down my spine, which is very rare with a movie. Somehow I got the wrong starting time for this showing in the early afternoon, and I arrived 15 minutes late, which made it really mysterious! Where did those servants come from?! And then when I asked the theatre employee if I could just stay to see the first 15 minutes of the next showing, he said no, it was against theatre rules, even when I offered to hand him my watch as a brief collateral!. So I bought the DVD and saw it again a couple of more times. I will say, though not recommended, it is sometimes interesting to start seeing a movie about twenty minutes in. I inadvertently did that with the amazing “Dark City” on a cable station, and really had to think about what was going on. If you have never seen it, I very highly recommend it; it is brilliant, thought-provoking, and has one of the most romantic scenes I have ever seen in a movie.

  8. From last year, IIRC.

  9. Would it be Halloween without this?

  10. I ain’t ‘fraida no ghost… 😛

  11. Classic SNL skit. 😆

  12. Just found this on Wonkette. 😛

    • Yay! I am “The Legend” (mainly Reeses/Kit Kats) but only two kids showed up. Then we went out to dinner because neither wanted to cook. We put the candy out with a note and it didn’t look like anybody else came. 😦
