*** MANDOS POST *** The Hungarian government, led by Victor Orbán, the great defender of the worker from the hordes of cheap labour and cultural contamination knocking on Hungary’s doors, has decided to pass a law that: Drastically raises mandatory overtime for 250 to 400 hours. Allows employers to bypass union negotiations and make agreements […]

Scaravan and other things.

Stephen Colbert called the mongrel horde of vicious MS13 ISIS members from Central America a “Scaravan”. Trump admitted yesterday that he doesn’t know for sure that his lies are true. Because he keeps lying to himself? Just guessing.

Rationality doesn’t seem to be working, like pointing out that a group of less than 10000 unarmed men, women and children “assaulting” a country of 320,000,000 people isn’t likely to get very far before we take them out with drones and other new toys in our arsenal. We’re almost at full employment, which was predicted to occur in 2017 way back in 2009. So, these people aren’t going to be taking scarce jobs. And if we can find a way to track them, I can’t figure out exactly what the problem is. Someone explain this to me. Let’s assume they find work. They’ll be paying taxes like everybody else. So…..?

As I said, you can’t argue rationally with emotionally provoked people. But you can call the thing exactly what it is: a scare tactic. Scaravan sounds just about perfect. Get on that, Jake Tapper.

Last night, Colbert had on the hosts of Pod Save America. This made me angry. Why are you angry, RD? Ok, I’ll tell you.

I listen to a lot of podcasts. The ones that get to the top of the Apple recommend list feature men prominently. I’m referring to the political and policy podcasts such as Pod Save America, FiveThirtyEight, Poltical Gabfest and The Weeds. If it’s not an all male cast, there’s generally a single woman who adds her dulcet tones. The Weeds is a bit different. There are sometimes more than one woman. But Matt Yglesias has a voice that seems to have been a product of SNL’s Whiners crossed with Moon Unit Zappa’s Valley Girl. It’s nails on a chalkboard hard to listen to. Combine that with the number of times he interrupts his cohosts to bogart the podcast and it’s enough to turn you off policy discussions for a lifetime.

Anyway, there are no good all female podcasts on politics and podcasts. And by that I do not mean to say that I want to hear the equivalent of The View. I want serious, intelligent, well informed podcast journalism with just women. It would be great if they also had a good sense of humor and a gift for narrative. Virginia Heffernan at Trumpcast is very good but she doesn’t own that podcast. I hear Rachel Maddox is launching a podcast soon. Let’s see how that goes.

Then I want Colbert to start inviting these hosts on his show so I can stop thinking about how smirking Jon Favreau put his hands all over Hillary’s cardboard cutout boobs in 2008. Yeah, that turned me off my kibble big time with Favreau and Obama’s male heavy speech writing team.

And another thing, about Obama…

Oops, look at the time. Gotta run to the bus. Later, taters.

Stop looking at the polls! No. Don’t even. Just stop.

  1. Polls, shmolls.

We all know here that the Corporate Media leans Rightward, just not as far as Faux Noise and the lesser wingnutty media. Plus, they always want a “horse race”, even if they are obliged to manufacture it.

  2. Obama, Favreaux… all the male journolisters who fell for him… who would have thunk? If it was not a #metoo, it was a different kind of #youno!

    • It was a cult of personality with no substance behind it. Rather like the Trumpsters, in fact. Every time I take a peek at the “other place” and see one of those Trump memes I can’t help but think of that dreadful “painting” of the Obamassiah rising out of the waters – it’s like Soviet Realist poster art of Lenin or Stalin (or, for that matter, poster art of Mao or Mussolini). That kind of crap has no place in a republic.

      • I can’t forget the children reverently chanting “Obama” over and over again. Obama was also a product marketed to perfection to the gullible. He was afterall the “One we have been waiting for.” Thanks , Oprah.

  3. We have had trump for two whole years. Why is he still scaring his people like he was still a candidate, outside, powerless? Does he not have a whole administration to do something about it?

  4. The difference between Apple and Ass(Face)Book; difference between heavyweight and lightweight; difference between Jobs/Cook and Zuckerberg. It starts at the top. Apple could have done what Facebook does but they didn’t. The fact that Facebook still has not made a course correction shows what kind of a company they are. In fact, they have dug their heels and as I like to call them, they are the FOX News network on the Internet. They are still enabling the exponential dissemination of propaganda, misinformation, disinformation, lies, and conspiracies.

  5. huh, now that he is contemplating running in 2020, he is asking this question, kind of after the horse has bolted the barn, don’t you think? Why didn’t you or Obama do something then?

  6. It’s not the gender that puts me off the PSA crew – it’s the smugness. They’re shallow, supercilious little twerps. I wish they were Republicans.

We’re in deep, deep trouble right now and we need serious, thoughtful people to figure out how to get us back on track – not a gaggle of snarky frat-boys.

    • it’s the smugness. They’re shallow, supercilious little twerps.

So true. We see that in most every 30 something (well, some are now 40 something) journolister.

    • I think you summed up the problem with the Obama administration. They were smug and didn’t take real world problems seriously. Like, how do you pay for health insurance and that new car you need to get to work at the same time?

  7. trump’s America is bad news. This after Soros incident. VOTE!

    • trump is enabling these bad actors. His tweets and rallies are fertile ground for radicalizing these people. They are the madrasas that these people spawn from.

      • Agree, pm. I had to roll my eyes when i heard the WH press release on these terrible acts of a “coward.” Sounds like cover to me, the dumpster is totally responsible for this and i am willing to bet he was thrilled to hear about the attempts and disappointed they didn’t take down their intended targets. I can see the villainous smirk on his pumpkin face in my mind’s eye.

  8. I wouldn’t be surprised if the caravan was organized and paid for by the Trump campaign or one of their major backers.

I still wonder what he’s planning to do with the troops he’s promised to send to the border: massacre a bunch of unarmed civilians?

    • Yep, I won’t be surprised if it is financed by his minions. Those people would be better off not doing this now before the election and I wonder if they know that. If they do and it is forced, then there is that.

      • I’m waiting for the rethugs to proclaim that this is actually a false flag to blame trump and that the real perp is a diabolical elitist libtard (after all the targets are unharmed). That should poke the asses of his base real well to get out and vote red in the middies.
