Yup

Trump voters need to ask themselves if they really want Trump to burn it all down because Mr. Stamina doesn’t have the balls fo go talk to Robert Mueller.

All he has to do is put on his big boy pants, walk into the FBI building and tell the truth. He said he’s innocent. Of everything. He’s very sensitive to how much this is costing the American taxpayer. So far it’s about 1/3rd the cost of a military parade but ok, whatever. It’s less than Ken Starr’s investigation.

But no, he’s not going to do it and put this whole “witch hunt”. (That has actually found witches- that have plead guilty) behind him. He’s going to whine and cry and send prematurely decomposing Rudy Giuliani to the networks to make his case.

Instead of voluntarily going to answer questions like Hillary Clinton did over her email server or the 11 hours of testimony she gave over Benghazi, Donald Trump is going to have to be dragged kicking and screaming to his FBI interview, he’s just going to pull down the whole edifice of the Justice Department so that NO one gets a fair shake. They’ll all be Trump loyalists and he’ll be the final judge on who gets mercy and who loses their pension.

Is it worth it? Is Donald Trump above the law? Or is he just a balless coward?

Gotta be one or the other and neither one is pretty.

And where the f^ck is Melania??

  1. Continually amazed at the obvious mal-intentions of Trump and his supporters.

  2. I think that immense damage has already been done. Not that one should not vote, and make sure everyone else votes, to try to ameliorate some of the damage, because giving up is not a feasible approach. But we see that at least 40% of the country, out of ignorance, stupidity, and being brainwashed, now hates the FBI, hates the government, hates our Intelligence services, hates the Department of Justice, hates the media, hates anyone with the letter “D” appended to his or her name. And these people are not going to change any time soon. It is not going to be like one of those inspiring movies where the good forces overwhelm the bad forces, and knock down their evil fortresses, to the sound of wild cheering, THE END. At the very best, it will be an excruciating struggle to repair at least some of the destruction. It is far easier to destroy than to build. 240 years of building a legal system which people had implicitly agreed to believe in, even with its inevitable flaws, has been already substantially undone. I’m not sure that the election of any Democratic President in the next fifty years is not going to be met with armed insurrection, or domestic terrorism.

The best the Democrats could do in the immediate term, is to eke out a small majority in the House in 2018, and then perhaps a very small majority in the Senate in 2020. And of course winning the White House is imperative. The District Courts are already 20% filled with Trump appointees, and these are not just conservative Republicans, they are mostly unqualified racists , authoritarians, and religious fanatics. Oh, I would love for Democrats to overwhelm the vote and drive all of the corrupt legislators out. But it can’t happen, not in our gerrymandered and voter suppressed system. That 40-45% is going to be there for many decades, doing everything they can to stop any progressive changes, any protection for the environment, and the safety net. Now I do think that the economy will collapse at some point, because no economy which takes away from the middle class to give to the very wealthy can function. But that will hurt all of us except those who are stashing billions in other countries. Finally, will the media ever stop their horrible “both sides to it” idiocy, will they every stop trying to normalize a fascist regime? Even if somehow Trump is removed, or resigns, there is Pence.,and behind him Ryan or McCarthy; there is a whole cadre of them. And if the Democrats ever do gain control of any branch, will the media start hammering away at them again, the way they have against Hillary for 25 years? The right-wing owned media is perhaps the biggest threat of all to democracy.

Finally, I had this idea flash into my head a few days ago; maybe someone else had thought of it, but maybe not. Are you as tired as I am of seeing the word “liberal” or “lib” be used as a term of opprobrium? Why don’t we start calling the other side, “The cons”? It is both shorthand and description, it could be quite effective as a continuing label.

    • We are currently in a cold civil war. That’s the best description I have seen of what we are going through. This is going to take some election cycles to solve. It is going to take repeatedly beating the GOP at the polls over and over again. The Bernie Bros can either decide to fight with us or they can just claim their allegiance to Trump of which many of them have done already. The old paradigms are gone. You either support white supremacy or you don’t. If you do there’s a party for you and it’s called the GOP, the neo-confederate party. Basically what the GOP has become is an 18th century plantation party. Even their economic model is the same one from the plantation era. Obama was the wrong president for the wrong time and that’s one of the reasons we are in the mess we are in now. He let the GOP roll over him with judicial appointments and so many other things.

    • “The cons” and the “The conned.”

  3. RD, I am not sure how this country will get rid of this scourge in the WH. He will take everyone down with him. What are Rs waiting for? Everyone should be saying things like this on TV and to the media. When Democrats say it, it becomes partisan and media ignores but the never-trumpers need to talk like this on every damn show.

    • Partisan politics is a fact of American political life, made infinitely worse by Newt Gingrich in the mid-90s, and reinforced daily on dozens of right wing talk radio shows. The other fact is that from the media perspective partisan politics is only bad when the Democrats are the ones practicing it. Things will only get worse with the media, as William points out above, the right wing owns the media, and is gobbling up more every day (Sinclair)

  4. President of the free world cannot spell the word Counsel correctly in his tweets. Think about that. I think the TV/media should report his tweets but not analyze the merits (or lack thereof) of his (or his minions) delusional arguments made in them. We all need a new strategy to deal with this ignorant and crooked nincompoop.

  5. If the media fuckers start the narrative that BC didn’t apologize, cite them this article. And contrary to the tweet by Lee he actually said he apologized to the world in his interview with Melvin.

    • All the NYT females including MAGA Maggie and that Amy whatever are on to this like hyenas.

        • Bill Clinton did a very good job as President. The economy was booming, and he handled every foreign crisis. He left the White House with an approval rating of around 67%. I don’t see that mentioned, though.

What is “the lens of MeToo”? Monica Lewinsky came to Washington to have an affair with Clinton. She was of age. He did not “take advantage of her.” Yes, it was unseemly, but then plenty of Presidents have carried on affairs while in the White House, while the media knew but said nothing–as actually was appropriate, because it is none of our business. But the current media, which bears perhaps the greatest responsibility for a psychotic fascist dismantling our country, will never admit it; they will deflect by going back to their favorite topic, which is not liking the Clintons. I thought MeToo was about extreme harassment or near-rape, not about consensual relationships between adults. But it is a fun topic for the media, gets everyone’s mind off the daily outrages being perpetrated by a man whom they did not vet, whose utter incompetence and compulsive lying they let pass, because he gave them ratings; and, oh, yes, he gave them more opportunity to flay their bete noir, Hillary Clinton. The media would literally rather have Bill and Hillary burned at the stake before a large TV audience, than actually deal with how they enabled a pure evil grifter to take control of our nation. The Clintons truly care for this country and the lives of the little person, while the Republicans do not care at all, but use the media to convince the populace that they are actually on their side. The Clintons are thus the convenient national scapegoats for all the sins that everyone else commits.

          • And the true horror of all of this nonsense continuing, is that it is a dangerous refashioning of history: rather than the story of how the national economy and the middle class were virtually ruined by the Republicans, until Bill Clinton put it back on the right track; and how Obama was able to reverse the plummeting economy caused by deregulation, the story turns into, “America was great, until Clinton came along and had an affair and was impeached; then it was great again until Obama came along and exacerbated racism by being Black.Trump is restoring our greatness.” Most people do not think much, and they will go along with that perverted narrative, because the media continues to purvey it.

          • I woke up this morning, with a really bad hangover, and my Clenis was missing again. 😛

  6. The Mainstream Media (aka the So-Called Liberal Media), just like the openly right-wing media, is owned by fat cats who want those sweet, sweet Rethuglican tax cuts.

Therefore, the fat cats don’t want anything to be reported that might actually wake up the Stupid White Folks of Real Amurka to the fact that the greatest menace to their safety, liberty, and prosperity is the Rethugs and the fat cats who own them (or did own them before Putin bought and/or blackmailed both the Rethugs and the fat cats), because then the White Folks might quit being Stupid long enough to throw out the Rethugs, and then bye-bye tax cuts for fat cats.

  7. Cuteness break/Cr@wd@d Repellent:

Himawari and little sister Kaede from YuruYuri.

  8. Worth a read. She says Putin dictated the Jr. response and not trump senior. Melania who was a witness, the only one, to the conversation between trump and putin at G8 summit, should be subpoenaed by Mueller. BTW, Josh Marshall wrote a similar piece but emptywheel wrote it first.

    • Check this Susan Simpson thread from July 2017. trump admits he talked to Putin at G20 about adoption, same as Jr’s meeting in the trump tower. So putin told him what to do? Ari Melber had a WSJ reporter and she was connecting a few other dots.

    • I think all this talk of him appropriating absolute power and trying to become an autocrat, pleases trump. He is not profound, he is not serious and his minions are ridiculous. Stop taking their pronouncements as some significant argument in front of SCOTUS and litigate on TV. Instead, everyone’s posture including the media should be to say ‘oh hell NO, that is not how we do things here in America!’ Instead everybody is raving mad, going OMG, he is turning us into an authoritarian country. No, get the press and other media to challenge these mfers, vote for Ds in the elections for the foreseeable future, and get those never-trumpers to become Ds and support Ds.

  9. This is the way to respond to his tweets:

  10. Two men in Florida stand accused of trying to burn down an ex-lover’s house with a boiling pot of spaghetti sauce, after stealing items from it.

One of them was wearing an adult-sized bull onesie.

As Dave Barry would say, I Am Not Making This Up. 😛

  11. This lady is apparently chief of staff for Philly Mayor. WTG! {and whose idea was it to put white sheets on grass in trump’s inauguration? LOL}

  12. Leave Bill Clinton alone! I change the channel whenever the men or women on TV and mostly Rs and some media anchors go after this guy. Enough is enough. We have a worse monster in the WH burning down the country.

  13. Bill Clinton is always click bait and the shiny object for the magpie that is our bought and sold Media. Twenty years ago, he publicly apologized to his wife, the nation and Ms. Lewinsky. Then, he went on an endless apology tour. Shortly, thereafter, President Clinton’s second term was over and our country was much better off for his stewardship. Please, push back. The right wing hates both Clintons because they’re effective.

    • Sue, I was scarcely able to sleep last night because I was so upset at this new bashing of a Clinton. I thought, there is no other person in the entire world whom the media continues to tell what to say and how to act, except Bill or Hillary or Chelsea. “Why didn’t he apologize again?” “Why was he defensive?” “What he should have done, was…” Just like 2016 with Hillary. And then even with Chelsea: “Why does she write a book for children?” “Why does she make comments on national issues?” It is like the worst version of high school bullying, from smug and smirking “journalists” who like to think of themselves as cool, because they get to be on TV.

Bill Clinton was the best president I have seen in my lifetime. Of course he wasn’t perfect in terms of policies or follow-through, but no one ever has been. He came along at a time when it really seemed that the Democrats would never win another national election. We lost every one from ’68 to ’88, except for Carter, who was very conservative and not effective. Bill Clinton came along, and was able to t reach some of the “Reagan Democrats,” because he could speak to them. And he of course is very smart, had real ideas, still does. Under Clinton, a $3 trillion deficit piled up by “frugal” Republicans turned into a $400 billion surplus, which Bush immediately turned into a deficit again. Bill and Hillary tried to give us universal health care back in 1993. He handled a number of foreign issues with aplomb. For this, he is reviled by the Republicans, disparaged by the Democratic Left for not being an ineffectual demagogue grifter like Bernie.

He left office with 67% approval; One of the faux pundits on TV yesterday actually tried to claim that this number was with regard to those who disfavored impeachment; no, it was not, it was favorable ratings. The despicable Elise Jordan was gleeful about this interview, because after all, the Right Wing has feared and despised Bill Clinton since he first came onto the scene. He was impeached simply because the Republicans despised him, and wanted to humiliate him and damage his legacy. Lying about a consensual affair is by no rational standard an impeachable offense. He is older now, more inclined to be testy, as often happens with older people, particularly one who served his country well for eight years, and yet is relentlessly hammered at for a brief semi-affair which had no bearing on national matters. And very sadly, some “progressives,” awash in the orthodoxy of “MeToo,” will say nothing to defend him or his presidency. A recent survey of apparently conservative-leaning historians (they ranked Reagan 8th) ranked him as our 15th best President; that is too low, they somehow had Obama higher, which is wrong. But he surely deserves much more respect and dignity than he is being given. And if the Democrats lose the next five national elections, and the democracy is simply a forgotten dream, there will still be those who perversely deny all reality, and will blame this on Bill and Hillary Clinton, who between them won the popular vote in three different election years.
