Be happy and be well. Please be careful about Covid. Viral load matters for infection, spending hours in a house with people is a great way to get infected. Feel free to use comments to discuss topics unrelated to recent posts. I’m doing my annual fundraiser. If you like my writing and can afford to, […]

Beltane

Today is Beltane, the Celtic fire festival that announces the beginning of summer. There’s a big fire festival on Calton Hill in Edinburgh every year with a procession of the May Queen to meet her Green Man. They are accompanied by Elementals representing fire, earth, air and water. The pictures are spectacular and it looks like everyone has a good time, running around half naked with bodies painted from head to toe.

You don’t need to be a pagan to appreciate nature and the change in seasons. I’m a water worshipper.

“And Flint still doesn’t have clean water”

Just sayin’.

I looked for Beltane songs online. A recommendation was “I Touch Myself” by the DiVinyls, which, I have to admit really taps into the spirit of Beltane but I think I’ll save that one for tonight.

Ahem.

Anyway, this one is pretty good for we water elementals out there.

Happy Beltane. Get your pagan on.

  1. Yay! summer is here…no it is not.

the colon in this tweet is bothering me. It connotes ‘Chris’ as saying the the Shakespeare thing but she is saying it TO Chris.

  2. Oh My! What a delicious read!!

    You Can’t Bully These Motherfuckers

“Wolf’s treatment of Sanders was bullying,” Cillizza wrote on CNN’s website yesterday, because he is an obsequious slimeball even more slovenly with language than his forebears were in the dispensation of their chromosomes.
    […]
Bullying happens along a gradient of existing power and reiterates it. That’s the difference between bullying and a fair fight: The bully is bigger and stronger and safer, and wields those advantages over someone smaller and weaker and more vulnerable. Michelle Wolf got off some zingers at Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s expense at an ultra-exclusive social event entirely filled by people whose livelihoods Sanders holds in her hands. Beyond that, as a basic function of her job, Sanders enjoys access to the water main of American political consciousness unmatched by pretty much any living person not named Donald Trump—a privilege she uses only and entirely for the purpose of pumping poison into it, aided by a healthy plurality of the people in that room but not by Michelle Wolf. I doubt there is a forum in existence in which Wolf could do anything that would qualify as “bullying” the press secretary of the President of the United States, but even if there is, the fucking White House Correspondents’ Dinner isn’t it.

This isn’t only a semantic point. It gets right to the heart of what makes Chris Cillizza an almost inconceivably atrocious and failed human being. […]

  3. Ooops landed in moderation, must be the delicious language, not mine (but could be) but of the author, well deserving of the recipients at whom it is aimed. Thanks in advance!

You know, the current crop of the media are not even good writers using words and associations willy-nilly, they are not analytical, they lack critical thinking, they lack idealism, they lack the smarts… you wonder how they got to where they are, (looking at you, nincompoop mfer Cillizza)

  4. No, it does not, you nitwit! it connects ashes from burned acts to smokey eye makeup which she wears profusely — there is a direct connection between how many facts she burns to how much stuff she puts on her eye (which she does and why?) and Wolf prefaced the joke by saying how resourceful Sanders was to use the ashes for eye makeup — the absurdity of it all should point to the joke it was but also to the harsh truth about how much burning/lying she does. These people in the media are not even smart!

    • Say what? If i remember correctly, Huckleberry (sorry her southern accent makes me type that) wore very little make up at the beginning and then it appeared she lost the battle and started wearing more and more makeup to include false eyelashes which I think look ridiculous on anyone who isn’t on the stage. I think she looked sensational at the WHCD dinner but on TV press briefs she kind of resembles a disjointed Picasso. Not her fault, she is just not photogenic, I can relate, neither am I. Also, I think Wolf was taking aim at her “substance,” not her appearance.

      • She has a bit of a cross eye and she compensates for that with the eye makeup — at least that is my take. If I want to be unkind which I do, I will say that trump makes her do that because she is not a good looking woman and his eyes must hurt to look at her as she is performing for him in the press briefing room.

  5. You know scandal du jour is Kelly and he called the buffoon an idiot. Who wouldn’t. I think that quote from Letterman is apt. We all know there is something wrong here and with him. Hillary warned us that he was a misfit. Let us just get on with moving him to his golf properties permanently before he does any more damage.

  6. I’m not a pagan, but okay.

  7. Recommend this thread; explains why trump got elected by mostly White even when they figured he was a misfit. Whites feared meritocracy taking hold in America more than whites being on top. As an immigrant, the meritocracy part is what made me fall in love with this country; the American Dream, come from wherever but you will be treated fairly and you can succeed.

Wow, these white trumpers went for the jugular of this country, didn’t they? Are they successful in killing it. deforming it, putting it on life support? Because trump ain’t making this country a success.

  8. trumpers are happy with WHCA apology. When will the media learn? This account and others of its ilk were talking about preventing MAGA Maggie’s first tweet about Sanders/Wolf being ratio’ed. Whose side are you on Maggie?

  9. 👿

  10. Rosenstein seems confident and sounds strong. I like that.
