You’ve probably seen this clip already but take a good look at Melania’s face:
Say what you want about her taking Trump’s side on the birther thing, this is a woman who actually has to live with the consequences of being on Trump’s side. Imagine what it is like to live with him. Oh sure, he looked rich and powerful back in 2003. He promised all the Manohlo Blahnik’s she could eat. No doubt, he promised her power, superiority, a form of American aristocracy. Not true American aristocracy. That would be the Kennedys. But at least all the trappings would be there, sort of, behind a glitzy façade.
The reality of Donald Trump is worse. Much worse. I’m guessing she’s strapped into a pre-nup that makes Marla’s look lavish. Ivana had to return all the jewelry Donald gave her. What Melania would get is anybody’s guess but it’s probably a steep, very steep dive from what she has now.
She can’t stand him. That much is clear. She looks distressed. Maybe even depressed. Being Donald’s wife is not fun.

The Confluence 
This was not just cringing, it was distressing like you say. The same old, same old, women’s plight of submission to a horrible creature. Though he seems afraid of her in some small way, if that is a consolation and she makes him beg.
Maybe Stormy can help her with the pre-nup but knowing how horrible that creature she is married to is, he would have included an escape clause for adultery.
