    • Week-end Wrap – Political Economy – April 20, 2019
This post is by Tony Wikrent I have been looking at the work of Cornell University law professor Robert Hockett, who is serving as an economics adviser to Representative Alexandria Occasio-Cortez. I have been delighted to find that Hockett has been working the same angle I have: applying the classical republicanism that informed the creation of […]

Tweet du Jour

Yes, that Jim Carrey

It looks a lot like Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Ummm, I think it is. Anyone want to speculate on HER personality type?

FiveThirtyEight podcast speculates about what happens if Trump fires Mueller. Summary: it would be a big deal, moving some reluctant Trump voters to jump ship, and tanking his poll numbers. Republicans in Congress don’t want to protect him now but probably would if Trump fires Mueller (I think this is optimistic but, hey, they’re the data people). If Trump is going to do it, he’d better do it soon so that the fury will dissipate by November. It will probably be good for Democrats like Claire McCaskill who are running in redder states.

If he were going to do it, when would it happen? Best guess, after 6:00pm on Friday or on a Tuesday. If I were Trump, I’d do it on Friday this week because the #Marchforourlives March in Washington and cities around the country is happening this Saturday. It gives him cover to do what he wants and the fury over Mueller’s firing will be conflated with the fury over the NRA.

So, I invite you, oh best beloveds, to intellectually masturbate on Mueller’s firing. It seems like a ‘when’ and not ‘if’ scenario now.

Good stroll to work music. Try not to dance in the street:

  1. Awww, where’s the love for Wrath, Sloth, and Envy? 😉

  2. Wow, Carrey is an artist. He has other caricatures on his TL.

  3. I personally think it is abortion related which is why trump is fighting this so hard.

    • I am really over the propping up of techies as “geniuses” and brilliant minds. They are anything but. It’s exploitative when you allow people to be completely hoodwinked and mind f*cked and then try to wash your hands clean. It’s not enough to just have a website where millions congregate… you have to regulate. If you’ve ever lived in Seattle or a similar city, you know first hand the damage being done by techies… the gentrification of neighborhoods & the wealth disparity is astoundingly apparent.

      • Many of the techies are not so brilliant outside of their fields of expertise; for one thing, Libertarianism runs amok in the minds of many of them.

    • Besides, Ted Olson after his wife died in the 9/11 plane that hit the Pentagon, he was smitten by a woman who was a Democrat who turned him around. At least that is what I read then and don’t know if he is still married to her.

  4. Was this not clear like day for night during the election and a lot of us did see that and isn’t that what Hillary (or anybody in her shoes) relied upon to some extent? But of course, NYT was a big enabler is obfuscating that fact. Now they write articles as if it is a new found revelation. Fuck them!

    • Cheating and illegality because trump knows nothing better…

    • alright the question is now: what happens from here? If these people were hired by Trump and his campaign, can this now be used against him with indictments?

  5. So much of what Hillary said and warned us about is happening. FUCK the MEDIA! They could have provided a counter force to all the propaganda and fake stories happening elsewhere but they amplified it instead.

  6. The Ch 4 video of CA is truly stomach turning. These people are criminal and should be prosecuted and put behind bars.
