  1. The sleeper on that album is “My One and Only Love.” I’ve never heard anyone sing it better than Johnny Hartman.

    And yes, considering all the virtuoso sax work that made Coltrane’s name on tunes like “A Love Supreme,” “Cousin Mary,” “Central Park West,” and so on… the tender sound on this album is a revelation. Nothing he couldn’t do. If I lived in San Fran I’d attend the Church of St. John Coltrane (as the Riverdaughter knows, there actually is such a thing) every once in a blue moon.
