    • Here was my neighborhood last night
      Because the family of a mentally ill Philadelphia man holding a knife called for an ambulance, and the cops showed up. They claim he “charged” them and they shot and killed him. The mental health unit is a pilot program and isn’t paid to work on the weekends. Protesters didn’t do this, looters did. (Maybe … Continue reading Here was my neighborhood last nigh […]

    • Interview Part 2: Politics Thru Climate Change
      This second excerpt from my interview is more interesting and longer. This is the second clip from my interview with Ian Welsh (Ian blogs at ianwelsh.net). For this segment, we went on a wild ride discussing the big picture mess that is US politics and society more broadly. I asked Ian what might happen if […]

I had a mixed hour at the Y.

I had to share a lap lane with a guy in his late teens who wanted to own the water and consistently pushed me into the lane divider with his crazy kicks.

There was a woman with a kickboard in the next lane over who kept trying to get my attention. She remembered me from the last time I was there. I remembered her too. I remembered that she wouldn’t stop trying to get my attention.

I did 30 minutes of laps and 15 min in the therapy pool only to find that the women’s locker room was again filled with screaming toddlers. You know, I did my tours of duty. I’m so over the shrieking 2 year olds in the shower room echo chamber. Do men have to put up with that in their locker rooms??

I had worn my bathing suit under my jeans on the way there and discovered sfter my shower that my underwear were probably still laying on my bed at home. So I tried to wiggle into my white jeans all commando style in front of three other people who didn’t look away. {{why??}}

But all is well. I’m having mahi mahi fajitas. I so deserve this.

Imagine what it must be like to be a Trump voter and having to live with this reality:

Trump Gives Wife Beater Praise He Usually Reserves for Child Molesters and Nazis

At least Hillary never did anything to make me feel dirty by association. So, I guess it could always be worse.

Barcarolle interlude.

I woke up this morning and Trump was still President. That could ruin my day.

But there is still Valentine’s Day coming up. Note to Amazon Prime members, you can get two dozen roses at Whole Foods for $19.99. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Also, the Pittsburgh Ballet is beginning its run of Swan Lake next Friday until Feb 25. And it’s Carnival in Rio and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. So, lots to do.

I’m heading off to the Y for a swim. But I’ll be thinking of Venice.
