    • How To Be Happy In Bad Times
Last year the New York Times had a profile of two people marrying: one 98, the other 94. They met in gym, they’re both active and happy despite their age. What is their “secret?” “People always ask what it is that keeps us young,” Mr. Mann said. “Of course, one part of it is medical […]

Deep in my heart, I do believe.

We shall overcome some day. To my neighbors, friends and all the lovely people I have met in the last several years while working on the campaign or in the Get-Go or on the bus, like Lori who works downtown in a hotel and listens to MSNBC obsessively:

People are people, Love is Love and judging people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin is something that no American should be struggling with in the 21st century.

  1. RD, I too want to believe we will overcome the dark days of this administration. Unlike a number of local readers/commenters here, I have the immigrant citizen perspective, sort of outsider looking in. I came here not as a refugee or a destitute whose lives may have been propelled by circumstance where they didn’t have control to escape. I came here out of my own choice because at first I was interested in travel and the challenge that comes with living in foreign cultures. But soon I started to appreciate and wanted to participate in ‘America as an idea’ where people from everywhere come to prosper. I fell in love with the idea and became a citizen. For those not having the experience, it is sentimental and painful to give up your citizenship but in this case, we figured it might be worth it. I am romanticizing and being wistful, but at least for us, we always had a choice to go back to where we came from if our little experiment didn’t work. So far we never had to consider that choice of going back. Now that option may become a reality but I would rather fight for what is right than run away.

  2. *sigh* Dolores O’Riordan, of The Cranberries, died suddenly, of currently unknown causes, at age 46.

  3. The RS obituary article includes 3 YT clips of their biggest hits.

This song, not in the group of 3, is my personal favorite.

  4. All the lights in the material universe go out, eventually.

But they all shine again, in the Presence of the Light which, indeed, never goes out.

  6. Oh, gods, Dr. Ronny Jackson just said he has really “good genes.” 30/30 on the Montreal test (MOCA??), he’s very “sharp” cognitively.
